I've just finished reading this book ( took me less than a day to finish it, like with every book of his... you start, and you can't stop). I loved this one (like the rest of them). The "Lonely no more" idea is just fascinatingly hilarious yet functional. Kurt's a God of literature. Hi ho.
I completely agree! I've read slaughterhouse 5, cat's cradle, jailbird, breakfast of champions, hocus pocus, mother night, welcome to the monkey house, and palm sunday... Cat's cradle was my favorite though... I guess slapstick is the next on my list lol
Hm. I didn't like Slapstick as much as some of his other books, and I've nearly all of them. It was better than "Timequake," which isn't saying too much. Vonnegut himself gave Slapstick a "D." Also, Jerry Lewis made a movie based on it called A Slapstick of Another Kind. I haven't seen it, but the reviews were NOT good. Nice to see that people still read Vonnegut, though. He wrote a lot of good stuff.
I finished this book in a night! And just sent it off today as a part of my bookswapping group. I really enjoyed it though and thought it was funny and relevant.
Love him too. I thought "A Man Without A Country" was his last book. I'll have to look for this one. If anyone cares, I thought "God Bless You, Mr. Rosewater" was his best.
I think Cat's Cradle is his best book...though I did enjoy S-5 I'm in the middle of Slapstick right now... and it reminds me of the book where he talks of his family history.. Which I think it was Palm Sunday... and the plot reminds me of something from Welcome to the Monkey House... it's good so far.
