well. I'm thinking of taking the plunge and moving away from the city. Somewhere near the countryside, in the UK. Trouble is, I don't have much money. I only make about £40 a week. I *could* make a lot more with my skills, but still, I don't want to have save for years.. really I want to get out of here asap. Anyone have any suggestions on what I could do/where I could go with a very low income?

There are some very affordable cardboard boxes at the moment. Get yourself a smack habit and you'll be laughing:)

Thanks jonny2mad, exactly what I was looking for.

I've already had the pleasure of an expensive habit coupled with living in a concrete box for just over a decade now. but thanks for the advice anyhoo :p

working on organic farms and yes you could become a wanderer on the road we have some posters doing that .
a idea I have is you could work for a few months doing crazy nightshifts all the hours you can and buy a small place in say europe .Ive worked 84 hour weeks in the past making about £600 a week doing production line sort of work at night .
doing that sort of thing it wouldnt take you long to make £5,000 or £7,000 .

its possible to grow all your own food on about 3-4000 sq feet using biointensive methods and a vegan diet and Ive seen places with a house and a acre for 5000 to 7000 pounds in parts of europe there are 43560 square foot to the acre so if you knew what you were doing you could be pretty independant of the outside world , a lot of these places also have their own wells have wood for heating and your pretty much sorted .
it would be hard to impossible find such a place anywhere in the uk thats why I suggest the continent

what you do then is work for maybe a month maybe two a year to get the money to pay rates on the property, limit drastically your expenditure you dont need electricity for example, if you have a well you wouldnt pay water rates ,if you grow your own food you dont need to pay for food except for seed you dont save.

it would be quite possible to live the sort of lifestyle that thoreau did at walden pond http://thoreau.eserver.org/walden00.html working about 2 hours a day as you own the property outright you would never need worry about loans or mortgages
