oddly enough that was the first one that came to my mind as well. though there have been many and i can't say as i've seen any i haven't liked at least a little.

there's a couple of newer ones out i haven't seen yet, from the same studio and one from someone else, that i've heard a bunch of good things about.

my favorite movie of all time that i've seen so far was also one in which no totaly human face appeared, but it wasn't painted or synthisized animation, rather mostly a kind of sophisticated, highly tecnological but still tangable real world hardware puppetry. and that of course was dark crystal. (though there were also a number of nontangable animation effects used in it as well. come to think of it, it used damd near everything that was available at the time including the kitchen sink, but the point is it used them all extremely well).

but for pure animation. pure artistic animation. yes i would have to aggree that mononoke hime is the best i've personaly seen in a full length movie as yet so far.

(though there are lots and lots of others, and some pretty darn good too)
