hahahahahahahahah I like totally understand what you like mean..LOL sorry had to do it . But yeah I know what you mean..and how rude of them to flip you off..for just trying to tell them that they sound like ditzy fools. Oh yeah, welcome to the teenagers of the 21st Century..doesn't it make you proud to know we're in such capable hands?
You know, I absolutely dig what your saying because, as you can see from some of my poems, I'm rather a cynic concerning, well, most anything. But isn't it odd that a generation once thought the same of us...and the beat goes on. Thank you Sonny Bono.
I'm one of those who say "like" I also say "man" and "cool" and "indubitably" What you say matters more than how you say it. It's not your business whether they say "like" or not, and they shouldn't have flicked you off. But I'd get testy, too, if some stranger came by critiquing my language.
Thank you all for you comments, yes it was funny. And Major Peacenik, I know it isn't my business if they choose to like repeat the word like five times, like in the same sentence. That's why I wasn't upset when they flipped me off. They needed to say like, and I needed to vent. The other people in the area (my age) got a chuckle out of the whole exchange. It's cool, man. Incedently, when my teenaged daughter brings her friends to the house, I sit there and by raising my fingers, count the number of times they say "like", until they ask what I am doing. I tell them and they aren't even aware they are saying like as many times as they do. Most of the kids thank me for bringing it to their attention. Some don't.
I noticed that many of the people writing here now seem to be different than the people who were here 5 or 6 months ago, so I am bumping this for their amuzement.
hahaha preppy speak!!!! me and my friend used to talk like that just to show people how annoying it is...lol "like omg shoes" plah i wanna puke
I used to get so pissed off when my parents corrected my language abuses as a teen but now, I'm an English teacher. Ironically, I spend my time correcting others. This is funny, well written and a great comment on the generation gap. Nice work, Aidan.
