I consider my to subscribe to a Hippie philosophy of life. I am a minimalist and have uber-hippie qualities. To me "Hippie" is a state of mind. I usually smile when someone calls me a "hippie", but I've also been called a "wannabe" just because I didn't live in the 1960s. That's really bullshit, man. Hippie is not just some fucker with long hair, a VW bus, flowers and tie dye. It's much more than that shit. Hippie is a lifestyle. One that I live proudly.
Hippie is a mindless stereotype to which weak minded individuals who feel the need to label themselves conform. A person can be as "hippie" as shit, and it's all good as long as that person is aware that he is himself and only himself... no a hippe, or any other false social category that you Americans feel the extreme need to place on a person.
Well, I don't consider myself a conformist and I know I am not weak-minded. But, I do consider myself "hippie" because of the definition (or label, as you refer to it) that it means to me. The "anti-label" crowd has labelled themselves, in my opinion. There is nothing wrong with calling yourself "hippie" or "punk" or "goth" or "Christian" or "Agnostic" or whatever. It's your right to label yourself or not to label yourself. I consider myself a hipster, hippie, hipophile, hip-a-maniac, and a hiparoobie. And I am proud to wear all those LABELS. And If I had stickers, I'd wear'em on my ass just for you for see.
Depends on what your proud of. I am proud of many things I have in my life and have shared with others. *ahem* Local god.
In my eyes, "hippie" equates to a peaceful, loving, and open minded individual. One who thinks outside the box so to speak.
Let go of pride and find balance within you. Pride makes people believe that they are better than others. Yes, Local God... no feelings of pride bout it though
Thank you, HCM. I think you and I have close to the same definition. Now, if you could only say that in the nude... it would mean a lot to me.
I agree if you are speaking a pride that separates. But, I have pride that unites. I am not proud of possessions (so to speak), because I have very little. But, I am happy and satisfied to be who I am.
...and I am happy for you. Sadly, almost every person in the world does not share your unifying pride.
You're welcome. And I just bet it would! Then again, I don't think you'd be hearing a word I said if I was in the nude.
Look, dude. I am not here to fucking argue with you. I asked people a fucking question and you get on here and begin to give a goddamn sermon to me about what is what and I don't DIG it. So, lay the fuck off with your cynicism. And furthermore, I'm not ignorant nor a fool. I don't know if your just trying to subtly insult me or trolling to piss me off, but it's lame and it's bullshit.
Says the man who loves to stir up senseless rhetoric arguments on the Christianity forum. You have a short temper. Get a hold of youself, and develope a sense of humour, you need one. Where is your peace, love, and tolerance, hippie?
Damn, you're not my favourite jedi? I agree with both. Sometimes it's good to be proud, but most of the time it isn't even righteous. Alright, to me hippie is a state of mind, but not a lifestyle. At least not an absolute lifestyle. Every description of a hippie lifestyle can be seen by someone else as just his lifestyle, while he isn't a hippie.
