Rainbow Gathering petition

Loving you brothers and sisters! We have had a fantastic idea. The Rainbow Gathering will be in either Texas, Oaklahoma, or Arkansaw this year, 2007, and so we put forth the following idea:

Texas has some extremely beautiful areas, especially in the West and South. This would be so perfect for the gathering this year. Also, it would offset the bad karma that Bush has caused for this state by his fascist war machine!

So please, e-mail the following Rainbow folk and request them to hold the Gathering for 2007 in Texas. If you know of any other Family members, please e-mail them too and ask them to have the Gathering in Texas this year. Loving you!

The way to have input on the Gathering site is to participate. get some folks together & go camp in the areas that you thing might work, then go to the spring scouting rendezvous (which will be in mid-April) to tell other folks why you think the area(s) you scouted would work

Me, I think that it's been too dry in the south; we've scouted some in Sam Houston back in 2000 & there weren't any suitable area that we saw & west TX, welll, it's west TX & it never had much water to begin with, plus it doesn't have any National Forest land

I can't say I want it to be in TX. Actually anywhere in the south seems like a bad idea for a July gathering with all that heat and humidity, as well as a higher majority of people that seem anti-rainbow, and a higher likelihood of getting messed with by the feds. I'm looking forward to the gathering returning to the Pacific Northwest. But maybe I'm just biased, cuz the NW is pretty damn near perfect in my book.

I live in texas. I have never been to a gathering so I have no idea what would qualify as an "ideal" place but from what I have basically been poling around the town of Ft. Worth some really old family would go to the gathering if it was near (which I'm guessing texas or oklahoma) and other wise they'll just go to Kerrville instead. I like Texas I think Texas is good hearted mostly....not everywhere but no where is good everywhere.

I would like the gathering to be in Texas obviously for selfish reasons...but yeah just wanted to throw that into the argument. There is family in Texas that loves Texas and maybe they would like it close to home, but instead everybody is just constantly hating all over it. That is kinda dark, and I think Texas is full of light.

I hear that Austin has many open-minded folks.

 

no numbers of emails to rainbow folks will make any difference at all the only way you can possibly affect where it will be is go to council
but dont be stuborn & insist on a place cause its close, listen to all who speak concider all
texas very well could be wonderful...or pure hell...

The place folks need to be is at Halley's Ferry in Huxley Tx on April 16th...that's where scout rendevous will be

When and where is council?

 

well then hopefully they have already scouted some places and will offer their input at scouting rendevous; taking into account that among the most important things are water & ample meadow space



and about council...there are some who say that council can only occur on the land...but hey, what our crew calls a 'council' isn't exactly the same thing as what's going on at Main Circle...if memory serves me correctly, a scouting council will be announced after the rendevous...maybe...well we'll see....

I remember Texas in the early 90 s It was a Nightmare with all the Hippy Hateing Rednecks and who can forget No guns getting run over on the 4th at the High noon circle by some drunk redneck Please lets not go back to texas There are better places anywhere else but texas I am sure there are nice folks there but for the most part it is not a Hippy Rainbow friendly Place i am sure of you remember Lets Find some other place PLEASE.

 

Texas Gathering was '88 JuJu was there & he said that despite Billy Ball & crew & despite the water problems, the Gathering was beautiful.

This whole thing of 'let's not go to Tx because of rednecks' is getting old...at the last Arkansas Gathering, the local sheriff was bringing his buddies out to take potshots at the hippies. The facts are these:

#1 it is many years later and a lot of attitudes have changed, East Tx is a lot friendlier to hip folk these days (as I'm sure that Ark sheriffs must certainly be, at least I hope they are! But Tx I know are from first hand experience)

#2 Tx Ok & Ark are the 3 states concensed to in Vision Council

#3 (not really a fact...an opinion and a hope) The most important factors in finding a site should be good water, ample meadow space, and all the other critiera which scouts look for in order to have a healthy Gathering.

 

Goddess bless texas but i feel called to arkansas. everytime my ear is filled with the discussion, arkansas is the answer. only online does there seem to be a push for anywhere else. i love u all and no matter where we meet this july i will be there loving you and loving mama.

 

Actually that was in "88", But yah it was a nightmare! I agree Texas has some Family but they are few and most of Texas is Hippie haters. I lived in Lufkin, Texas for quite sometime and let me tell you they hate us. They branded me a devil worshipper and everything and in the end I had to leave a sweet sister & her 2 Lil' Ones cause her ex & all the Fundie Rednecks were threatening me with bodily harm. She couldn't leave cause of child custody issues with her ex. But she wanted to. Yah! Texas is a bad scene.

Now my experiences with Arkansas is good. Them Hillbillies love us. Well most of them anyway. LOL Lotsa Family down around Hot Springs, Arkansas and I have been to regionals in the South that were great.

Does anyone remember the Cumberland Regional in "93"? Me, Celeste, Casper, & Feather showed up for seed camp & set up Welcome Home Kitchen. It was great cause the local Ranger there loved us and made it clear to us that the local Sheriff was not allowed in there to bother us & told us to call him if the Sheriff showed up. Sure enough, one day the Sheriff went zipping by Welcome Home Kitchen and someone yelled, "Some one call the Ranger the Sheriff just drove in!" Didn't have to cause no sooner did they yelled that, the Ranger drove by. A few minutes later the Sheriff drove back out mad dogging us with the Ranger right on his tail smiling and waving at us. That was awesome! Also I remember this local trendy sister sitting around our community in her city clothes going, "Hi my name is Star & I'm afraid of Butterflys." in her deep southren accent. She dove in with helping our kitchen and had herself a ball. We never saw her after that Gathering.

Also there was this really cool local big biker brother who showed up on his bike and hung with us for a day. He loved us and saids, "I'll be back in a day or 2." He left and came back the next day in a motorhome with his wife and kids with his bike on a trailer & a bunch of his buddies riding in on their bikes behind him. He brought a huge garbage bag full of local weed and no alcohal. Seriously!

One of the A-Campers got out of hand and assaulted a sister. This brother and his friends went to A-Camp and told this bunch of drunk bum wannabe bikers to chill & they weren't about to argue with a bunch of real bikers. We didn't hear another peep out of A Camp the rest of that gathering.

The biker brother loved us and his crew respected the Family's anti-alcohal tradition, but boy did they ever smoke us out! LOL This was a dry county BTW.

I remember this biker brother telling us "Us hillbillies is just mountain hippies and you all is welcome back anytime!" So yah I know that the South has some dark racist history but you will noticed down there the further out in the mountains you get the lest you experience racism & hate. The mountain folks don't care what color you are or how long your hair is. If you smoke weed, respect the land & love Bluegrass & Old Time music well then you is just fine by them. Most of your jerks & racist in the South are in the larger white trash towns & cities. Mountain Folks are actually a seperate breed down there & a lot of folks don't realize that. If you know your history, when the Civil War happened most of the Mountain Folks didn't want to be involved. They didn't care about slavery & Unions. The racist lived in the towns & flatlands around the mountains and had plantations. The Mountain Folks worked their own tiny plots of mountain land & had no need for slaves and politics. I watch a great documentry on the Mountain Folks and they made it very clear that it was after the Civil War that the Mountain Folks became distrustful of outsiders, both Northerners & Southerners. The movie Cold Mountain touches on that a bit. The [size=-1]Conferdates drafted the Mountain Folks young men to go fight & die in a war that had nothing to do with them so they distrust their fellow Southern flatland neighbors as much as any other. And they definetly don't like the government. These folks as the biker told us "were Rainbow long before there ever was a Rainbow Gathering." LOL

Ok I'm starting to ramble so I'll end here. But yah! No Texas! No Oklahoma! No short hair right wing racist hippie hating redneck country please!
