Hey all, I'm having a St. Patrick's day party and I was just wondering if anyone had some suggestions for some good irish style jig music, or modern day versions like flogging molly etc. well??????
http://www.myspace.com/murphysemptyshot Check these guys out. It's a subgroup from a local band(Wookiefoot) Perfect for Patties Day
Check out the Pogues for another great irish folk/punk band, great tunes. They're leaning more towards folk then punk sometimes, but I dig them more then Floggin Molly for instance. Shane McGowan is one hell of a charachter. I bet you like them! Of course on St. Paddy's day there should be some songs of the Dubliners as well. Some other bands more in the vein of Floggin molly are of course Dropkick Murphies (bit more hardcore punk though), Real McKenzies and Blood or Whiskey. For jigs and reels try Irish folk rock bands like the Chieftains or Albion band.
Pogues will get you there!! or for some wild celtic festi music, bang up to the minute check out Tarantism afro celt sound and Kangaroo Moon didges with fiddles really highly spirited. Catherine x www.lovedupkitchen.co.uk
