Hi i am a music writter an i wanted to ask you a queston ... i have problems comin up with subject matters for songs that i write can any one give me any ideas on how to over come this... an answer would be much appreciated..
Why not just steal other peoples songs and change some of the words the beatles for example We're Major Basil's Lonely pub Quiz band or how about by the stones I just got some - satisfaction
-shrug- Why don't you write some made up bull about the lover who doesn't love you back...It might work...
What makes you happpy? What makes you sad? Think about protest songs, what, in this world, do you think should change? Sometimes I'm in a bad mood and I want a song all about love and being cheered up and I can't find any, except for the beatles, write songs with love and happiness!
Either that or just write about the violence you see around you - Although this might be difficult if you live in a Welsh Village or somewhere in the Lake District. In that case you would have to create a lot of aggro and then pretend you were just an observer (wait in hiding and then leap out and mug your dad). If you live in a city just contact your nearest neighbourhood gang and ask if you can tag along and watch as they pummel someones face into the ground over a drug deal that went a bit tits up. Theres really nothing better to write about than full on violence and guns - ask any rapper
It sounds like a lot of bovver to me. Why not have a nice cup of bovril, and forget about the whole thing. Or design a computer game instead.
But If you want to write songs youy should just pick up a pen and write whatever comes into your head - everything can be a song - what you really need to do to be taken seriously tho is to write what people in the industry call a "good" song. That is one that has the ability to make others applaud after you have finished singing it - If you cant manage that - just make up any old bullsh*t and sing it for fun because it makes you happy and dont think thats a second best option - Madonna made MILLIONS singing bullshit written by other people - Other people like Elton John wrote absolutely piles of dinosaur shit that he made millions from singing to audiences that couldnt tell the difference between music and dinosaur shit Go for it - and remember - If you dont write nothing but shit- its not whether your songs are shit that counts its how good you are at selling shit !
