Howdy y'alls, We're still working hard to protect the last wild bison in North America. You wanna see a wildlife management clusterfuck in action, visit http://www.buffalofieldcampaign.org and the folks at BFC will fill you in on what the Montana Department of Livestock are up to with Yellowstone Bison. In Canada, our wild buffalo are threatened with complete governement sponsored elimination. Another management mess. Visits http://www.savethewildbison.org Thanks Kalanu
Will McKillum's comments (April 14, 2010) at the first link are amusing. However, for a person removed from the cattle/bison dispute, it's difficult to cut through the sarcasm, in which the speaker says the exact opposite of his real message. It would be easier to get his message (though not as funny) if he simply made his points. The second link shown (provided in 2007) is a dead link at this time. I think bison are attractive and would like to see their numbers increase. However, as I understand it, they are more dangerous than cattle for the cowboy to herd and bring to market, and their meat isn't considered as tasty by the average consumer. I'm not familiar with the issues, but I believe bison have to be kept separate from cattle to avoid the spread of brucellosis and anthrax.
