seems way more stressful that figuring out how to pay them off reasonably. dave and i have managed to pay of $30k of debt over three years, and he was only making $13/hour and supporting the family.

I do that. I have a credit card that I maxed out and everytime I made a payment, the apr rate or whatever was so high, that it would never go down, so I just stopped paying. Whenever I am home and they call me I just say "she doesnt live here anymore", but they still keep calling. Now if I see the number i will just pick up and hang up and since then they have been slowing down. I owe like $2,000 in student loans that I decided to stop making payments on, also. My credit is effed.

    NO!

Don't let him put it in his name, get him to help you pay down your debt and put it in your name too ..... please!

    Do this for all women!

lol why? we probably wouldnt buy a house unless we were married, which probably wont be for a looong time, so hopefully i will have cleaned it up a little by then. so if we ever split, i would still get half of it right? or half of what it would be worth? my sister just went through a divorce and their house was in her name, and she was the primary earner in the relationship, and she almost had to pay him half of what the house was worth, except he decided he wouldnt make her do that.
