I don't know too many people who still listen to Joni Mitchell that much. i found some of her old albums and my dad has them on vinyl. i haven't listened to her since i was a litle kid and now i fell in love again. <3 run like an antelope out of control!
Oh, i love Joni's music. The other night she was inducted into the canadian songwriters hall of fame on television, it was really neat because there was a bunch of canadians re-doing her songs...but she didn't actually sing any which was a bummer
joni is absolutely classic. i've loved her music since she released her first album and wore out 3 copies of it on vinyl. i saw her recently ( in nov/dec?) at an exhibit of her paintings in los angeles at a small gallery. she did these huge collages with anti-war themes in all of them. they were fantastic. the best part of the evening was her appearance and learning that she is producing new music that is set to be released shortly. it's been way to long...
I had one vinyl or LP when I was in my teens, and just recently ordered all of her CD's on the interlibrary loan program at our local library. I listened to everything and enjoyed so much her many, many recordings. She has an astounding vocal range, and uses her voice in a unique and very emotive way. Her lyrics are always profound, and she writes about important political and lifestyle issues. I do believe she was the best and most talented female artist of her generation, and even now she stands out in the music industry as a enduring, creative, and very unique singer songwriter.
When I was a kid my mom used to hum River to me, it was the only song that'd put me to sleep for some odd reason. Joni Mitchell is a great musician
Best singer of our time. Both Sides Now, Urge For Going and Raised On Robbery are absolutely brilliant. In April there will be a tribute cd released with major artist covering her songs. Most certainly will not be as good as the originials but any new Joni-material (or semi-Joni) will be appreciated. Tracklist: http://musicmeter.nl/album/70660
I LOVE HER MUSIC. She is also a VERY brave woman, I watched a biography on her and she would travel, on planes and everything with a little bag and her guitar. She is a wonderful person, I usually tell people she is my mother.
I only have the Ladies of the Canyon album, but it is fantastic i listen to it all the time she has such a wonderful voice
