I believe in the same thing, but I think I am one of the sons of God, not exactly a perfect son like jesus but one of his sons. If you think a son is some one who is "grown up" in spirituality, then I guess I am like a child of God then Please don't be so defensive, its okay to believe in such a beautiful thing as you do.
I respect the beleifs of others. I just don't understand the need to capitilize every single reference to god. I mean, come on, we all know you dig your god. Just lay off the caps lock key.
i'm a christian, though i was never very good at it. i think the bible gives sexuality a raw deal. i think sexuality is truly sacred to god, but has been thoroughly undermined by satan (the evil in man).
it's typically done out of respect, some believe it to be an essential show of respect, to differentiate him from the false deities. me, i don't worry about it. i'm on a first name basis with him. we're pals.
Capitalizing every reference to God is a way to show respect to His position in our hearts. If you think it is wrong, then by all means write it as "god" , but why ask other people to write it as "god"?
I apologize if I came across as defensive. I wasn't sure about what you were getting at in your first post. I know a lot of people don't agree with me and have other beliefs. I am fine with that. I respect what others believe I just want the same in return. One of my biggest challenges being on the threads is that sometimes I misunderstand what it is people are saying. Maybe it is just the way I feel it is being said that has me so confused. I am sorry I misunderstood you.
i think jesus and the bible are purely metaphorical, not a historical reference at all. at least they SHOULD be purely metaphorical... blind faith is pointless...
I wondered what the brilliant jesuswasamonkey would have to say here. ahaha. "Yes there is a god... and he hates you."
i think all religions exist to teach one truth and that is to love (and yet they don't teach that.. see next paragraph). i personally don't need a book (no matter its age) to tell me to do that. i don't think its wise to have religions. they breed so much hatred cause they focus on only loving their saviour and their followers. i cannot support anything that tells people others will suffer for not thinking the same way.
Any hope that humans would love a God, religion has destroyed it. Religion is the refuge of the weak mind. Religion is a pyramid of power. No one needs gods, bibles, ministers who explain what the soul is. Look into yourself - an artist makes a sculpture that is 1000fold the sum of himself. You can be a 1000fold the sum of yourself too. Take 20$, buy groceries to that lady who's poor and leave it on her doorstep. If a god of some sort existed and he'd see you kneeling into a church in front of a pedophile priest he'd be sad.
What you feel/think/believe is your RIGHT. I am not saying it is right or wrong but I do want to comment about something. I never feel like if others don't support what I believe that they will suffer. I don't feel like the God that I believe in is like that. I don't go to Church. I don't believe I have to in order for God to love me. I can't quote scripture. I haven't given to the Church like the Bible says I am supposed to. I donate clothing and other items to the Church. That is my way of giving. I don't feel like I breed any hatred. I feel I am just the opposite. If you say something, feel something, believe in something I will try and support your beliefs. If I don't like it that is okay. It doesn't make any of us right or wrong. I will show you love by being kind no matter what you believe. That is what I am really trying to say. I don't have any hatred for anyone.
i'm not meaning you personally. i mean religions as a whole. listen to them and they just want to tell about how they are right and everyone else is wrong. they cause people to judge each other and for what? nothing. none of them can prove anymore than the next what happens when you die.
whatever works for you, whatever gets you on that spiritual path.... be it drugs, religion, this forum, its the same place were all headed too, jsut differnet ways to get there, thats all...
I am discovering that I am not a Christian as I do not have the same belief structure in Jesus as the teachings of the Bible. I believe in one God and that all living matter has been brought to this earth to redeem it and through such efforts they redeem themselves. In helping to redeem the world, one helps redeem themselves. On a side note: The old saying goes in Random Thoughts thou shalt not discuss Religion or why John Kerry is better than George Bush (politics). So, I'm not going to elaborate further on my faith here or why dubya is a fool.
I did not think you meant me personally however thank you for saying that. I thought the Bible teaches us about forgiveness. I have learned not to jugde others because of the Bible. I believe there is a Heaven. If I am wrong well at least I spent my life feeling like there was a better place for me when I am gone. I don't know what other religions teach about forgiveness and judging. I would like to know if anyone would oblige.
I agree, Buddhism is by far the religion that fits me the best, yet I do not feel like I have to expose a label such as "buddhist" on myself. I try to get the best out of Buddhusm, the philosophical aspect, but when it comes to the religious aspect, I ignore it. So I can easily say, that I compeletely despise any religion other than Buddhism, and only like Buddhism because it's more of a life philosophy than a religion. Yet, I still am surely not Buddhist. I am my own God. I practice self worship...does magic... when you believe that you are indeed a higher being, you can do anything
All things are impermanent, Strive on with awareness... Buddha never says you are God, neither does he say He is God. All he says is that there is a way to decrease your suffering in this world. It is caused due to Mara- in buddhism- maya in Hinduism. Mara- Maya- is Illusion. This illusion is the one that is truly the cause of our suffering. When we see the things "as they are" , then we will be happy. He keeps quiet when it comes to God and everything. What he says is , "all things are impermanent, strive on with awareness" and believes that "practice is enlightenment". So, if you are going to "make" buddhism "fit well" to you, I recommend that you "fit it in" well, then you won't have to settle for "I am God" mentality, because then you will know who and what God really is.
