In Sweden, in olden days they had something like a special barefoot day March 25. Not so much in use to day, but I have read about some cases. It has much of a religous touch, maybe so long ago as the catolic times in Sweden, so I wonder if any body have heard about things like this in other countries. It was a collection of different spring signs to celebrate. It was the arrival of the Crane bird. It had a religous part, it was the time when Mary got pregnant with Jesus. It was the time when the light at the days got longer than the dark at the nights. In olden days many people in rural areas went barefoot in the summer. Children went barefoot from spring to fall. This special day they began season and walked barefoot in a ritual way. People should walk barefoot around seven farms. It was a way to beg God for a good harvest. Going barefoot at this holy day were also a way to beg God for a good barefoot season. To beg God save them from bump the toes into things and save them from getting much cracked heels. It was a way to beg God to give them an easy "tenderfoot period" and fast let them get the tough soles.
