I'm getting kind of angry with all the negative comments people have made about Israel and the Jewish religion. Israel is our homeland - promised to us by God (in the Torah) and the only place we can go that we will not be persecuted... Since the beginning of the Jewish religion there has been hatred towards us by many different people...We need a place to go and be free. I'm not saying that we shouldn't share with the other religions because we accept everyone and love everyone for who they are no matter what they believe. I wish people would do the same for us. Though there has been violence ever since Israel was created between the Israelis and Palestinians, I believe that if we ALL learn to share and cooperate with each other, there could be peace. I'm not that religious but I am spiritual and I love my religion with everything it stands for. I just wish that we could be left alone and be able to live in peace.
Hey Sungoddess, I agree with you completely except about persecution. Although it is not to the same degree as a Jewish person might find outside of Israel, for liberal Jews, there is still much oppression and suppression of non-orthodox Judaism. Hopefully we will see an Israel that is at peace with others and within itself in our own lifetimes. Dauer
The ignorant will always be the loudest and the peaceful more subdued and I say ignore them....really they don't even know what they are saying, drones of anger God bless you and know many others find your religion beautiful
Israel as a political body and the Jewish religion are different universes... I haven't any issue with the belief system, or the Jewish people. However I do take issue with the nation's political behavior...especially regarding Palestine and Libya. I think it reflects terribly upon the people of the country, and the religion so closely associated with it.
you don't know many Israelis do you? Have you ever considered what Palestine and Libya have been doing to Israel ever since Israel came to exist as a country? Some people only look at one side of the conflict... I say study up on what they are doing to Israel before you side against it. Oh and a the people and country are completely different. You can not judge a people by the country's actions... Look at the U.S.
Sun Goddess, you need to immigrate to Israel to be with your likeminded brothers and sisters. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8U_yAPYcmCU&mode=related&search= https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GSAvaYY-y7Q https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2EZ5_OXXUao https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OO28p-yaTVY https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Mp9DhPamR8
Yes, it's a mystery why so many people get particularly annoyed with Jewish people. Any ideas? What have you done for other people?
i stand with the right of every soverign nation to have exactly the same right, and or wrong, as the case might be, as every other soverign nation, to exist. i do NOT stand with the "right", rather with the "NO WAY IN HELL IN MY NAME" of ANY nation to institutionalize ANY form of religeous nor for that matter idiological, economic, or any other form, of bias, be it jewish, christian, islamic, or even buddhist. (nor for that matter capitolist, communist or any damd thing elsist along those lines either!) =^^= .../\...
Because we continued to exist despite Christianity and would not assimilate. Nevermind the whole accusation of deicide. Relations with Muslims have historically been much better, up until politics became involved. I watched the first of your videos. Did you notice all of those little boys are haredim, ultra-orthodox Jews? When enlightenment philosophy came to Judaism it led to a number of different reactions. The most extreme reaction on the left was to replace the traditional methods of learning with western scholarship and mostly reject all forms of ritual and spiritual practice. They also did things back then like moving shabbos to sunday so they could be more like everyone else. The more extreme form on the right was to solidify beliefs about things that were before much more fluid, to turn more flexible practices into rigid laws, and in some places to cut the community off as much as possible from the rest of civilization. The first video deals with those types of folks. The majority of Jews in Israel want peace with the Palestinians. But they don't want to do something that will lead to more death of their own people. As far as the government, it has the same problems as any, and its actions in armed conflict do not necessarily reflect the views or ethics of the population. I have a video for you too: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jsck3w6FzZM Shalom u'vrachah (Peace and blessings) Dauer
But they are supported by the Israeli government in their settlements, are they not? The 'secular' soldiers don't intervene when these jewish people throw stones and harass the local palestinians. And since most jewish people in Israel don't do anything concrete themselves, they are infact condoning whatever goes on. And this coming from the luxury of a democracy. Want and doing something are two different things. 'Interfaith' dialogues are just talk, nothing else. Plus, it does not cost anything or require a sacrifice. You've been having these 'interfaith dialgogues' for decades- any results? On the other hand, it is encouraging that there are a few individuals who do something concrete for a lost cause. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O-xlakRkho4 But I do find it very disturbing that within Israel you have so many non-jewish people living in these 3rd world conditions in the 21st century, 60 years after independence. And it's only now, that a few individuals are helping these poor people. Negect and indifference among 'peace loving' people? Hmmm...
Actually, I know a couple Israelis, yes...and quite a few Jews. Again, I am not passing judgement on a religion or a race here... I am stating that I cannot possibly agree with the way Israel as a political entity handles itself. The atrocities against Palestine and Libya are horrid, and no amount of "they started it!" will change that. The chain of who started what goes back quite a long way, and any historian can tell you Israel is hardly 'innocent'. I actually went out of my way to say I was not judging the Jewish people due to Israel's actions as a nation. I did say those actions reflect badly upon the Jewish people - which they do.
Their violence is not supported. They're subsidized and there's been a lot of protest because of it. They pushed them back. They're not police. Does that mean in your mind that most Americans condone the Iraq war? There are Jews and Israelis who actively speak up against this stuff. http://www.upzshalom.org/ http://jewishconscience.blogspot.com/ http://www.makezine.org/micah.html What do you expect anyone to do besides speaking against it and contacting politicians? Maybe you missed the second part of what I said: they're scared. Whenever Israel makes concessions, it doesn't stop the violence from the Palestinians. Nor does the current Palestinian government have much interest in in a lasting peaceful relationship with Israel. Not for those involved or those affected by it. Maybe you didn't bother to watch the video. It's not just people talking. They're singing in hebrew and arabic, doing a zikr together, dancing together in the name of peace. To publicize and circulate information about the events? Sure it costs. To host them? Is something only worthwhile if it costs a large sum of money? I don't think so at all. Organized protests don't cost a lot of money. Nor does writing to your representative. Does it require sacrifice? Sure it does. Time and effort in order to bring people together. Non-Jewish arab Israelis get the same aid as everyone else. Like any country, Israel is concerned for its own people first. Dauer
retro, what's wrong with that? Every nation is. Would it be better for a government to allow its people to die because instead of focusing on on the needs of its own nation it spends its time focusing on the needs of another?
Exactly, so don't expect people to feel sorry for your people and hold your hand. Your tribal problems are your problems alone.
Dear lady, please ignore the dumbshit liberals on this website. They love to judge, especially a nation like Israel, which is so easy to judge. Believe me, they would be throwing nukes in every direction if they were in Israel's situation.
Were I in Israel's situation, Rubin, I'd be protesting the actions of my own nation - and terribly vocal that those actions did not represent my own views. I would not condone nuking all nearby nations. I don't think many people here would.
Yet again, believe me... you put a couple of million American in that land and threaten them with suicide bombings and constant war and they'll go apeshit destroying everything in sight. Anyhow, I'm an Israeli citizen and I do protest the way Israel handles its wars, it could do it much more intellegently.
