What is emo?

I hear this said about kids but I don't think I've ever seen one. Is it an insult, or are emos proud to be called emo? Was there some famous emo celebrity that started it all, or is it a grassroots society? Is emo short for emotionally unstable? Are they nerds on prozac? Are they depressed goth kids without the chains and black clothes? If you punched them would they try to fight back?

 

I assumed it was the first name of a comic with the last name "Philips"

 

The Emo is a mythical creature.

I personally hate emos. They walk around like there is a stick shoved up their ass, and the whole world evoles around them. They are always depressed and are striving for attention. They also complaine and whine about everything. oh.. and emo guys wear girls jeans somtimes, which is pretty faggish. I know this because i beat an emo kid up once for wearing them at the mall and all he did was cry like a bitch. you can hate on me all you want for that but he deserved it man.. and personally i dont give a fuck

This has educated me about you quite nicely. People with mindsets like yours populate prisons and form hate groups because they deem themselves worthy of judging that another person merits a beating because of something that in reality affects no one. It is my humble opinion that your hate and intolerance places you on the long list of folks who richly deserve to be beaten to a merry little pulp. damn i didnt want everyone jumping my back for it.. i must not have told the whole story.. I didnt just walk up and say hey u fag BAM. it was way different. Him and his buddies started throwing stuff at my truck and it started from there. I am actually a very nice person, but that just pissed me off cuz i just got it out of the shop a week earlier. its one of those, you would have had to be there things. This isn't at all what you originally stated. You said that you beat up someone for wearing girl's jeans. At least be man enough to stand by what you posted... also...

I have no problem with emo kids... I am half emo kid myself. Or at least I felt like I should be one when I went to that Death Cab for Cutie concert... everyone looked the same and they all looked like me and it was disturbing. We all looked a lot like that picture.

 

I couldn't give a shit if someones an emo really. Personally I'm not a fan of the tight trouser look, (apart from on David Bowie in Labyrinth). but each to there own hey?

Also there is no need to beat people up, just walk away gharp.

 

about 50% of the kids at my school are emo...some are okay, but others are just a bunch of spoiled little bitches. So really it depends on the person, just like everything else.
