Can you think of a situation or sudden event happenning to you, that would make you so happy, that you would be grateful for it all your life, and from there on you wouldn't suffer or fear, but just be glad and joyful permanently?

Within the realm of the possible.

well i think there couldnt be such a situation when one would never suffer or fear anymore
however there can be some happy event that can mark a new happy turn in one's life or just put a person into a good mood for months...
    like i know it's trivial....love

getting handed a large and unexpected windfall would actually put a bit of bounce in my step.

hearing that bush hand gotten extrodinarily rendered and was facing an international war crimes tribunal.

the price of motor fuels going through the roof to where the average person, and damd few if any unaverage persons either, could any longer afford to drive an automobile. (and the profits from what did continue to be sold going to extend and enhance public transportation of all sorts at all levels and including places where there had never yet been any)

a genuine sea change in core cultural values away from romatacizing and rewarding aggressiveness and toward creativity instead. a kid of flip between what has come to be romantacized and what has been ostracized.

a colapse of corporatocracy AND big government WITHOUT 'lawlessness' replacing it.

a replcement of land ownership with anyone can build anything anywhere provided it was in harmony with actual environmental conditions on the ground right there where they do.

a divesting of super power governments the way the courts broke up at&t back in the 70s and 80s into smaller regeonal soverignties.

i think all of these things are within the realm of the POSSIBLE, if perhapse somewhere near the outer fringes of it.

a national of even planetary energy policy favoring wind, solar and hydro over oil, coal, and nuclear.

the oil and auto industry having to pave the roads the way railroads have to build their own track, and precious irony, then being taxed the way railroads are to pay for highways, to pay for improvements and opperating expenses for public transit.

and of course streets turned into parks and parking lots into gardens and little people sized trains replacing the automobile. that might be the best one of all.

    Nope, nothing.

I had a conversation about something similar to this with my step-dad yesterday. People can never be truly happy, he phrased it simply and well:

"We all have our cup of worries and negativity that we constantly need to fill up, everyone's cup is just of a different size."

Pure eternal happiness would be the equivalent of complete ignorance... or like Fitz said... death.

The thing is that unconciously we are all (97.09%) waiting for that.

Religious upbringing? Fairy-tales? Media hyping up so many things?

We might be... but it's not natural as it is, and we are only brainwashed to think that such thing will bring complete gratification (even though it's impossible).

I cannot imagine my life in constant happiness... it would be so dull.

To have another baby *or babies* without ending up dying or putting myself at extreme risk of permanent health issues. (I almost died with my twins due to severe and rare complications).

But then again, it would never be enough. I'd have that baby, and want another, and another. I've got some major maternal issues. I've got three, healthy, beautiful children but I have such a strong, almost unbearable urge for more. Drives me nuts and I wish I didn't feel that way!

Imagine waking up every morning out of breath, fatigued beyond imagination and with a mind that can hardly think, moods you cannot control....and its only by pure will power and "glass half full" thinking that I can do any of the things I do. I am much stronger than I used to be, but I know for a fact i'd be happier without chronic fatigue.

My point is.....there is what we do with what we have.....but there is also what we have, and sometimes it sucks and a bit of externally applied happiness would go along way!
