Hello! My dog Sundance is a Border collie Lab cross. Best dog I ever had and I think it is because of the Border collie in him.

Border collies can be a fairly small dog so that is the type that I recommend.

I included a link to a photo of Sundance. Cheers!

Generally speaking attachment has little to nothing to do with breed. They all have individual characters, but any dog can be 'attached' if the time is taken to interact with them enough and socialise them properly.

So research which breed/s would best suits your lifestyle then take it from there. I would recommend looking around local animal shelters. Puppies are a blank slate socialisation wise but they are a lot of work and with a crossbreed you might not be sure how big they'll end up or whatever. It's also better from an ethical perspective to adopt a dog from a shelter, and many are purebreeds given up through not fault of their own. So all that good stuff and house trained :)

We have a [English working/field-bred] cocker spaniel and in my, obvious not biased, opinion they are excellent all round; a good size (not too big or small), intelligent, good natured, moderatly active*, low maintanence etc.

We've had to put in a lot of time & effort training our dog, but it's paid off. Even people who don't like or are scared of dogs like him, and he behaves himself ... most of the time.
Not sure if he understands every word, but he does know a lot and will cock his head and make like he's listening which is cute.

*They are content with short (20 min) daily walks, but wouldn't pass up a longer run/walk in the woods or somewhere interesting like that.

Lhasa Apsos are groovy dogs. Their somewhat small, cute, and fluffy. They also don't shed. I have one. His name's Rocky, and he's the cutest dog in the world.

Here are some more suggestions for you just in case...

In the past couple of years I fostered these little dogs from our local humane society and found them each great homes with friends. Funny, but since they are now with close friends I still get to see them often and always get a christmas card from each of them.

I hope the little dog of your dreams finds you and vice versa too...

This is Penny and she is a Pomeranian.

This is Spirit (pronounced "Spirwit") and he is a Maltese.

This is Emma and she is a Rat Terrier. She is most certainly the wildest of the three.

in my life so far l've had two pinchers and l must say they are very, very attached. although l think it has alot to do with how much you're working on it, how much attention you're paying to the dog.....

I have 2 westies (west highland terrier), they are both loving and affectionate..not a usual westie trait apparently.

Only, as they are white-skinned dogs, they are prone to skin complaints and have complicated diets because of it, so if you get one, be prepared to visit the vet at least twice every year! Also, they need to be clipped (haircut) every 3 months or so.

This is my dog. he's a mini schnauzer. all i have to say is that these are AMAZING dogs. they have a really unique character that makes them very "attachable". if you were to get a dog, i would suggest C:\Documents and Settings\Adam\My Documents\My Pictures\2006_1107Image\2006_1107Image0004.JPGyou get this breed.
