This was modeled after an "evil eye" amulet. To ward off the evil eye. This is done with an inset moonstone: And the back of the moonstone one:
how thin can you go on an avo seed? Could I carve spirals for stretched ears from one? How'd you prepare it and seal it?
I haven't sealed them at all. I just let them dry for a day or two, peel the skin off, pop them in two (they are in two halves) and carve away. What you carve stays whiteish and the rest browns up. It's fun and if it doesn't work there's always more to try again.
very cool, exactly! That's such a creative idea. I never would have thought about doing that Peace and love
how creative work!~I really love the moonstone inset.Could you tell me this stone is natural stone or a synthetic stone,We offen sell synthetic moonstone.Recently.We will try to use natural moonston to cut various shape and sizes. www.fbeads.com
That was the first time I inset a stone in one of the carvings. I like it alot. I used a moonstone from a broken and impossible to repair bracelet, that I've had for quite awhile. Reuse and recycle.
thats pretty awesome. i took a jewery class last year and it was interesting. i made a cuddle bone keychain and a pendant made out of silver and added this powder stuff and sawdust to place it on. it was fun yet time consuming. i think im going to save my avacado seeds now and try this out!
omigish! You made beautiful, fantastic jewelery out of compost? You rock! When I first saw that title I was think, "What in the world?" I didn't expect it to be so lovely. That's awesome.
oooh wow Tarra your getting really good at it drummin, you dont need to seal them as they generally dont degrade, if you look in your compost heap chances are youll find them from about 7 years ago however the fresher they are the easyer they are to carve, personally i carve them as soon as ive finished eating the advocardo.
