Ok the way I see it wireless gives you the freedom to move around a space without having to jack-in some wires that get tangled up and make the place look a mess, and all those wires cost a bit more to businesses because when you got a few thousand cables to install that takes time and money. Against that you have the argument that wireless is unreliable because it demands a fairly good signal strength and therefore in large spaces you may need several relays etc, it is a major security threat, as people can stand outside the building the routers are positioned in and hack them up to their hearts content. The majority of people who set up wireless havent got a clue what they are doing and usually opt for stupid passwords like "joanne", or "rabbit1" that are only encrypted to 64 bits rather than 128 and with the lowest form of encryption possible. Fair play if wireless routers are in professional hands but most are not - and sometimes even then.... To my way of thinking I'd prefer a bit of mess for better reliability and much better security. No matter how much you think a wireless lan is protected by encryption or whatever, theres always some clever geek thats better than a system could ever be. I vote for wired connections every time
I use the Sprint Mobile Broadband. It's slow as shit, but I can get internet practically anywhere in the US which has a population over a 1000.
wireless vs wired really just depends on the network you are building. what are your design goals and what is the buget? size? clients abilities? basically it depends on things like that. that is the systems analysts job to collect this data and analyze it with the team. the best network setup will usually be a hybrid of both LAN types.
I think wired is good on the security side of things but wireless is coming increasingly popular! wireless can be potentialaly unsafe! as if someone breaks into it (even with a WEP/WPA) people can read and steal your files e.t.c luv u alll =]
