Do you believe that the song Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds was intentionally meanto spell LSD? John denies that it was, and I believe him. he's got no reason to lie. What do you think? You can read about it somewhere at snopes.com. Search for Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds and you should find it.
John Lennon did deny that the song was about LSD, he did say it was inspired from a drawing that his son did. However just recently when Paul was interviewed about drugs influencing the Beatles' music, some of the songs that were mentioned were Dr. Roberts (the dentist that introduced them to LSD) and Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds. So it's John's word against Paul's...and John isn't around to defend himself...sooo...you decide.
I think John is right. It's a psychedelic song, and the beatles were taking drugs at that time, but that doesn't mean that the song is automatically about drugs.
i know the whole song is about acid, but the way john tells the story is this: One day Julian Lennon came home from school with a drawing he'd made there that day. John asks him, "What you got there, junior?". Julian shows John the picture and John asks him "What do you call it?". "It's Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds, daddy!". Lucy referring to Julian's friend at school. So if john is to be believed, it was a coincidence.
actually, the song is about what you really think it tells you.is it his sons's drawing, is it the LSD, is it muff diving, is it the best moment in yo life, is it your old bike?
Come on guys, give me a brake!!! Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds??? Have you ever listened to the lyrics? Or the music? Man, are you guys joking?
it probably has a double meaning.. i bet it was inspired by the drawing but the words just kept flowing out about lsd or something hahaah i could see how that could easily happen... but then of course if asked the song would be about the drawing... but i dont even know the lyrics i was just going by what people posted haha.
this song is definately about acid. theres no way around it. first theres the title, with LSD in it, and the song lyrics themselves? come on people! these guys were definately on a lot of acid when they made up this song! your blind if you cant see it! or you have never had acid
Of course it is about LSD. When Jimi Hendrix said he never took LSD, do you believe him? come on. Peace & Love
I don't think it means LSD or anything like that, sure he probobly was on a trip when he saw it and stuff. But when he says some of the imagry was influenced by Alice through the Looking Glass, like I am the Walrus is... And about what Paul says, I think everyone knew about Dr. Robert, and that "Got to get you into my life" was about pot... Bottom line, the song is not acctually about it, olny influenced by it...
Geez, most of you are so wrong. Completely. It is not a drug song, I believe what John said, because after admitting Day Tripper was about acid, what would be the point of covering up more? Almost everything John was putting out at the time was psychedelic, and one of them just so happens to have the initials L, S and D in it. It's probably just a coincidence. Stranger things have happened.
