I hope it's all right to post this here, since I think this forum will probably be the most effected. Stacy (mamaboogie), a favorite forumer to many of us, contacted me via email a couple days ago and explained her absense. She felt she was spending too much time in forums and had become addicted, and the only way she thought she could stop was "cold turkey" from all of them. She misses hipforums dearly, though, and I asked if it was allright for me to post up here to explain why she's gone. I knew that since I'd certainly missed her here, other forumers (especially here in Parenting) would have too. Now she has a blog (which she says is just as addictive, but luckily less time-consuming) and explains her problem with forums on this page http://friendstacy.blogspot.com/2007/02/addiction.html . She'll also be keeping her etsy store, for those of you in touch through that venue. If anyone wants to stay in touch with her on a more one-on-one basis, I'm sure she'd be happy to hear from you! She will be missed here, that is for certain - but this is a step she has to take in her life, for herself and those beautiful girls of hers.
hum, I was curious as to why I hadn't seen her around lately. I know how she feels...I have gotten a little too addicted to this place before and have had to cut down my usage a lot...it's hard. We didn't talk much, but say hi to her for me anyhow
Oh, I miss her. I gotta tell ya, though. This place IS addictive. I have gone more than a month (before today) without being online, checking email ect. and although it was due to illness, it was a bit refreshing. I know too many mamas with internet addiction, it has become a serious problem in our La Leche league Chapter and I admire the mamas who know when to put a limit on it. (Like, in addition to being sick, I have also had to do.) I hope Stacey does well!
I'm suffering from internet addiction....and it is so hard to try and overcome it.... So I think this is a good time to say, I'm giving up the hipforums for awhile. Hipforums, my other momma forum, myspace....all of it. wow, lotsa people are taking a break from this place. Nice to see ya again maggie sugar...was wondering where you've been Thankfully, thanks to school, it caused me to take more of a break from this place...when I was home with Leane last year, it was so hard to pull myself away from the computer. I was forever on it...and I felt so bad that I wasn't spending more of that time with Lea Lea. Now I try to wait till she's either in bed or off playing for a few minutes. Sad to see ya go Holly, but good for you talk to ya when you come back
