New member. I remember a long time ago someone told me that it was not posible to read in a dream. Something about you don't use the part of your brain that handles reading when you dream. Can anyone confirm or deny this? I've tried seaching the internet but didn't find anything. Thanks

I dunno. Sometimes I have dreams I'm lying in bed reading, not actually reading the words, but just going through the act. It's very relaxing!

You just can't get a bead on the words, at least I can't and as I strain and look harder I always wake up. I think thats can be a sign of lucid dreaming; u can't read print or very well.
as a kid I thought I could bring back 'secret' knowledge, some Lovecraft thing lol
    peace all

i can certainly deny it, though it's not something i can do all the time. sometimes i can, sometimes i can't. i can remember one specific dream quite vividly, it was an extremely vivid dream besides, in which the menu on the wall over the coffee and pizza windows were clearly readable, as were the mechanical drawing and the dimentioning and lettering on them in a drawer and on a table in the little room off to the side of the main back room that the model train club met in. this was in an odd little cafe in amsterdam, well supposedly some parallel world amsterdam, which i had teleported to in that dream where a whole bunch of people from different forums, mostly furry and a few from this one, were all meeting.

i remember i got there a little late, kind of half freeked out about how i was going to get back. but someone gave me a ride to one their home who lived in a suburb of the same town there, and when i went to sleep to spend the night, after more socializing, rp games, vidios, some kind of card game with a strainge deck, possibly along similar lines to MtG, well i went to sleep on the floor there, as did quite a few of us, under blankets the people who had the house lent us, well then when i woke back up it was for real and in my own bed at home.

but that's not by any means the only time i've been able to read words, letters and numbers.

most of my dreams i'm too bussy exploring arround and diggin the countryside to even think about trying to read anything though. only rarely have i ever tried to and found myself unable to.

Text changes. You can read. I'd read one sentence, turn around and its changed.

theres nothing that cant be expirienced in a dream as far as i know. iv definatly read from books as well as computers in dreams, but it rarely makes sence, and the words and sentances do change around.

    hmm I've had this dream..

I and one of my best friends touring around the world. it should be in the near future I think and the world is quite in a bad shape; pollution, wastelands around, the sky always a grayish dark etc..

in one point we come upon a black sea; though the sea is quite rough and wavy, the waves do not move they seem frozen. some people cruise on the unmoving waves and come ashore. we sigh and move on.

after some foggy memories there is this thing; we find a 3d documentary made by aliens at a far future date about humankind. it's like this:

"humans, middle sized mammals, evolved on a lush planet and spread rapidly. they were quite a disharmonious species and harmed their environment beyond repair.

fortunatelly, they became EXTINCT (according to their own calendar) approximately in 99??-11???."

we stare at the flashing dates for a long time.

Though the words were just sounds in my mind, I remember clearly seeing those dates; I saw the numbers floating in mid-air just before me. The ??? parts are because I forgot them in time. (something like 451 or so)

I was surprised that I read some coherent thing in my dream actually.

bus/tram stop signs don't chainge in my dreams, the route numbers on them. and the same routes always go to the same places. only the places themselves may have many or at least some, details different about them each time i get off there. as if, which is precisely what i feel i'm experiencing, i were visiting the same places but at different points in time. possibly even sometimes in different parallel universes.

also as i've mentioned before, the geography more generaly is fairly constant.
(not literaly one on one with anyplace i've been in real life, but constantly consistant with itself.)
