I have suffered from yeast infections since I was young. I'm a clean person and I dont know how to end this. Ive tried it all... OTC medicines doesnt work Yogurt doesnt work A friend told me to quit using soap when I wash and just use warm water and a wash cloth. She also mentioned something about probiotics. Anybody have any other suggestions? It is so painful. I cant even have sex without being in pain. Please help...
it may be a problem you will actually have to go to a gyn about. everything irritates me and i had to go "no undies" for a while, and now it is all cotton. since otc stuff never worked for me either I had to go and get a prescription for a pill to take orally that usually clears things up in a day or so. If you don't have insurance a doc. at the health dept should also be able to help you get a medicine that works well, like the pills I had to take.... otc creams etc never ever worked for me....
It could very likely be a food allergy. This is why it will not go away. The medicine will only stop it until you digest the allergen again. The only way to determine food allergies it to eliminate the food for about a week. Being a yeast infection, I'm not sure if you could tell without doing a treatment. I've heard that dairy, wheat and sugar products can be a culprit. One cheap but effective treatment is using cream of tarter. You have to start out with a small amount and build up. Mix 1/8 tsp with juice once a day. Each day if tolerated add another 1/8 or 1/4 until your reach 1 tsp. It can make your stomach upset at first, esp if you use too much to start with. Once you get up to 1 tsp a day, drink it once or twice a day for two weeks. I didn't have alot of signs for a yeast infections, but some slight itching. This fixed it.
Thanks so much, both of you. No, I dont have health insurance so I can not go to the gyn. When I start school in the fall I should be back on my moms insurance so if the home remedies (i.e. cream of tarter) do not have any effect by then, I will go to my gyn. And this may sound very silly but, what is cream of tarter and where would I find it? Again, thanks!
I just moved to the town I live in now and I really dont know the area yet but I will check... Will they be able to help me with my problem?
more than likely planned parenthood and the health dept both should be able to help you and both places work on a sliding scale... meaning payment based on income... just make sure you get checked out if you keep having problems... I think I would have never had things cleared up if I hadn't gone to the doc... I almost gave up it was sooo bad but they finally found something that worked for me.
Look in your grocery store's spice section for cream of tarter. Try to find one that's close to 100%. Some cheap kinds have chalk added. It's a by product of making wine. Umm... Wine makes everything better
i agree to not using soap. you could even be a little allergic or sensitive to the soap youre using. i get yeast infections quite often too but yoghurt usually clears them up. for prevention, try eating plain yogurt every day, thats whats meant by probiotics, usually. i know you can also get lactobaccillus acidopholus (the bacteria you want) in tablet form probably from your health food store, maybe you could treat the infection with that.
Maybe its Candida? which is an overgrowth of yeast in your body that feasts on sugars & yeast. Maybe try the garlic clove wrapped in cheese cloth and insert it in for awhile? Or drink alot of fresh lemon juice in water or pure cranberry juice to change the ph levels. since it happens so often for you I would say defanitly look into a possible Candida overgrowth.
Something that always works for me is tea tree oil. You get some tampons in a plastic applicator (this is the easiest to insert in a painful yoni!) and push it up a little just to get the very tip. Coat the tip with KY jelly or vasline and then drip a few drops of tea tree oil on top of the lube. Quickly insert the tampon before the oil drips off. Change the tampon every few hours. Another method that worked for me was the garlic clove that a previous poster mentioned. Instead of cheesecloth I cut off abit of a shower lather builder, the slippery kind. I put a whole, peeled garlic clove in the netting and close it up with floss.
You may be extra sensitive down there. Even simple things like what material your underwear is made of can set you off or wearing tight underwear etc
If it's chronic look into boric acid capsules. You can make them yourself or you can buy them over the internet. If you read the doctor reviews online they're all 99% success rate- My doctor at Planned Parenthood told me about them
I had my husband look at me "down there" and he saw, which I can feel, some small white bumps around my hole This worries me We tried to have sex and it hurt too badly Any ideas about this??
Thats hard when you dont have insurance... I cant afford to see one, Tho I am gonna check about Planned Parenthood and what they may be able to do
only wear cotton underwear make sure you change and/or shower after sweaty work, like the gym if youre overheating a bit just make sure your sitting with your legs spread to prevent sweat build up (my thighs sometimes sweat, bleh) do not use soap. you only need to rinse your vulva with water, you dont need soap to be clean, especially not one with any perfumes in it or one not designed fro sensitive skin also if youre tryign the garlic method make sure you have -not- nicked the garlic
