I wanted to PUBLICLY pay my respects to ALL School Teachers, Councelors in the world. Ya hate em NOW, but later on, when you learn what it was they DID for YOU, If ya can READ this, THANK a Teacher. One of mine, litteraly saved my life. Just by being there. Think about it, and reply. I'll check back.
Well, I was a realy depressed kid. This was about 7th grade. I had thoughts of killing myself. Was alone most of the time, both parents worked or spent the evening at the bar. My guidance councelor saw the signs, and gave the help I needed.
This is also for the teachers we have today. I learn things from some of your posts, you learn things from mine. I just wanted to give Props to them what deserve them.
At School,my music teacher encouraged me to learn to play guitar tunes in key!. Before that ,all my tunes were key-less. I had good teachers but I sympathise with a previous comment on this thread about bad teachers. There are bad teachers about & they cause a lot of damage to kids.
Did anyone watch 20/20 tonight about the teachers who are in unions? I went to private school and public school and I had both horrible teachers, and great teachers who inspired me. Actually, there was a time that I wanted to become a teacher, but not so much these days. Anyway, I used to completely advocate on the behalf of teachers and revered them in a high caliber of people because they take low pay and put up with such shit in many public school systems because they care about the future of our nation (which lies in children if you all haven't figured that out yet). But after seeing what I did tonight on 20/20, I honestly have to wonder how many teachers really deserve that honor. I mean the woman who, I think she was the union leader, she didn't give one shit about the children. And all of the political BS involved in the whole thing pissed me off so badly, that I can't even describe it. The show did not set out to portray teachers in a bad light, the teachers and their union did that well enough for them. Anyway, it made me see the point of view of the government and of parents. There really are good teachers out there, and those I do applaud, however there are some really fucked up teachers out there and the unions and governments are making it very difficult to keep the good teachers and weed out the bad ones, and it really is the children that suffer.
I didn't see 20/20. But, I'm not talking about only those teachers who work in schools. Maybe, your next door neighbor tought you something. Or maybe the police in your area. Those are teachers too in a way. As are you and I. We learn from each other.
fuck teachers, kids dont have the attention span nowadays to sit in a classroom and actually learn material without being dosed on adhd meds/speed. all you need is the internet and an intuitive mind. ...leave the teaching up to teachers who know their shit. let me learn the rest prrreeezzz.
That's what I want to be too. My History teacher inspired me to want to do that. He's awesome he taught us about more than what was in the text books and gave everyone a fair chance and is such a nice guy he's pretty funny too.
I owe a lot to my teachers. There were those who reminded me that nobody is "special" and held my feet to the fire, and those who realized that some of us go through times we don't cope well, and gave me opportunities to lose myself in schoolwork. One semester when I was between jobs I taught night classes at the local college. It was enough to make me want to go back and apologize to every college teacher I'd ever had for the bullshit they go through. The actual teaching is wonderful, you just ignore those who aren't interested (and they appreciate it) and throw opportunities at those who are interested. But the administrative bullshit required, even as a crummy "night class teacher", will boggle your mind. When your untenured college teacher says he spends more time on homework than you do ... believe it.
You were lucky, the vast majority of teachers I had were only in the job for 2-3 months paid holiday a year and because they liked the idea off having power over people that were vunerable. I had about 20 teachers altogether when I was in school, I had two good teachers in that time. The good ones were amazing, the rest were pathetic and should never have been placed in a position of influence.
aww i loved most of my teachers, they never did me no harm, except for one who treated me like i was a possesed demonic child but oh well, she got me an A in maths!
Ever stopped and thought that the program makers only let you see what they want you to see? Dont be naive, of course the program makers are anti union - greed is what keeps money flowing cant have a load of commies asking for higher wages and through the bargaining chip of organised unions - Ha ha ha ! whose side do you think TV is on ????
