All of a sudden, my five favourite female vocalists became clear in my head. This kinda thing usually requires lots of thought for me, but not this time...I wasn't even trying to establish the list!

    Those women are:

    1. Fiona Apple
    2. Bjork
    3. Aretha Franklin
    4. Janis Joplin
    5. Sia Furler (Zero 7)

Top five men I figure I should give a shot at, but already I know it's gonna be tricky...

    1. Jeff Buckley
    2. Paul McCartney
    3. Jonsi Birgisson (Sigur Ros)
    4. Tom Waits
    5. Jeff Mangum (Neutral Milk Hotel)

So who might yours be? :)

Feel free to mix up the lists, male/female/whatever, like I say, I just had those five women in mind. I couldn't even attempt to narrow that ten to five!

Cheers...Good calls! Lennon almost made my number 2 spot, but after a bit of thought I realised I prefered Paul's 'perfect' vocals as opposed to John's slightly off vocals.

Hendrix too actually, I considered, but he gets the number one spot for guitar. Not that that should hold him back, but it I think it made me slightly biased.

Two people that I sadly had to leave out: Ella Fitzgerald and Lou Reed.

Nick Drake doesn't make me miserable, but I do sometimes feel sad listening to him and thinking about how sad he was :( Poor fella.

Anyway, I'm posting 'cause for some stupid reason I forgot to mention Beth Gibbons of Portishead. Sheesh!
