I'm supposed to be going to university in september to do criminal justice eeek i really don't want to do it anymore, i want to do something like art or music but i just don't hav a-levels in those subjects so my choices are limited. I don't want to go and hav 2 hang round with all the 'normals' that are likely to be on that course that wud kill me. Do you know of any colleges that will accept me on an arts/music course, i can't seem to find any, doesn't have to be a university. Also, which universities are really good for hippies? Which hav the most hippies and on which courses mainly? I'm talkin about england btw! I have a-levels in english language, health and social care, biology and general studies. Sorry if these has turned out long! Thanks people xxxxxxxx
I know Cambridge certainly doesn't have many hippies, though a lot of hippies descend on the city come Strawberry Fair. For most subjects you don't have to have A Levels to take it at degree level, you just have to have a certain level of ability. So if you're a natural at art/music you should get offers as far as I'm aware. Also you can always do a foundation course in it first, which will take a year, then go on to study the subject....
i did a creative arts course and they were all normal and i was only hippie. and from experience arts degrees dont get you a job! if i could go back and choose again id do something different with better job prospects. trust me shop work gets dull and depressing after 2 years. good luck with what ever you do! ucas will have clearance places on results day and you can change courses once at uni too. we had a girl join our course after 2 weeks of deciding she didnt wanna do english anymore
i study music at newcastle uni. to get in i had to have an a-level in music or its equivilent, and i still had to audition. having said this for subjects like music where you have to audition, qualifications don't always count. if you are talented and prove it to them, they will give you a place. its a hard subject to study, but its incredibly rewarding.
oh and....most people also dont hang out with people off their course anyway - you find most of your friends in student societies - again from experience - circus clubs have lots of hippies
Try English Literature and Creative Writing. I'm hoping to go to Bath, Bristol, or London Birkbeck. Writers are usually the most eccentric, I'd say.
