when they are disgusted in something?? Ive never done this before, but I see people do this alot, especially in acting??? is there a reason why people feel the need to close their eyes, and grasp the bridge of their nose with their thumb and index finger??

Perhaps it's a gesture suggesting that something is synonymous with a bad odor?

But I just tried holding the "bridge" of my nose and that wouldn't block any intruding odor. You would have to squeeze both sides together, against the bridge to do that. I guess that is unless you jam your fingers up your nose while doing it

I didn't take the OP as regarding a reaction to an actual smell- just to general disgust. Since there is presumably no odor to offend the senses there would be no need to actually affect nasal blockage. The gesture would be a reaction to something that only stunk metaphorically.

no no no.......... you know, the bridge of the nose, where the bone is....... its not due to any foul odor or anything like that.......... its just when someone is perturbed about someone else or something else, and they hold the area right between the eyes, on the bridge of the nose........ and lower their head....... does anyone know what Im talkin about???

maybe there's a pressure point there? i close my eyes to block out visual stimulation, hoping it will improve concentration/focusing...

OOOO thats the bridge of your nose. I was thinking of the thing seperating the two nostrills. I have seen people do that....There is a pressure point there that supposedly releaves headaches. So when someone does that it's like saying that you're giving them a headache

I've seen people do it in movies a lot, but never in real life. I vividly remember being extremely annoyed by Dennis Quaid in The Day After Tomorrow. He seemed to do this move non-stop.

I pull on my hair or.. like.. I do alot of things when I'm stressed. I am an avid-knee shaker, though I do it either when I'm stressed out or bored... but now my knee-shaking habits have changed as I was in a car accident and that really fucked my knee up. It hurts most when I'm sitting in a chair or something... or on the couch.

If I bump my right knee on the coffee table, I pretty much have to either fall on the couch or onto the floor, because my nerves exaggerate the pain to the point where it hurts too much to stand after I've done that.
