Did anyone catch the PBS show this week, The Boomer Century? It was a nice homage to the culture, roots and potential future impact of the Baby Boom generation. There was of course, the requisite tip of the proverbial hat to the 60's and hippie culture, as well as some nice analysis of general boomer traits which were uber prominent in hippies at the time. I still can't believe that my generation, could produce BOTH a Bill Clinton AND a W. George Bush!! (Unfortunately, the show only took a few minutes to acknowledge that fact and the conclusion that there was a throwback anti-boomer subset of the boomers who were trying to copy their parents and bring back THEIR (their parents) world, rather than create a new one. Even if just a subset, it's causing chaos and threatening to undo all the good we've done. Did anyone else watch it? Anyone? Anyone at all? Bueller? (silence) (crickets)
I saw some of it and thought it was damn good. It pretty much blamed the countries problems on the boomer generations culture adaptations. The debt and drug use...
Uh.... I guess, but it also labeled us as responsible for the flowering of civil rights women's rights ecology investigative reporting workplace innovation and other "faults". (It also suggested that if geriatric rights and revitalization of the cities is going to happen, it will be when the bulk of the boomers age and ditch the suburbs).
Sure but you can't ignore the problems you guys created for the next generation...............I'm kidding...
