so I have a tendency to get nervous every time I'm supposed to get my period, just because I'm a worry-wart.

but this time I'm REALLY nervous/scared. I'm currently on B.C. (Ortho-Cept). I was prescibed an antibiotic, and used condoms as was told to me by my gyno (use them 'till near the end of my pack--I took the antibiotics near the beginning).

    well, since then I've had sex without a condom and it's time for my period...and it's been e x t e m e l y light (which is very uncommon for me).

long story short, could that be an indicator that I'm pregnant?

when in doubt, pick up a pregnancy test. theyre fairly cheap and quite accurate.... i find picking one up is way better than stressing myself out worrying abou tit, especially since stress can make your perio dlater or lighter

also check with your doctor that the bc / antibiotics won't skew the results of the pregnancy test.

Also only CERTAIN antibiotics will mess up a pill.

i think toenail meant that the combo might produce a false result on the test.

Antibiotics will not effect pregnancy tests. The Preg test detects a certain hormone, which antibiotics do not effect. The reason certain antibiotics effect BC pills is that they can reduce the amount of time it takes your body to clear progesterone or estrogen from your body, thus the pill works for a shorter time, allowing you to ovulate, in occasional situations. But, Pregnancy tests look at HCG, which are not effected by any antibiotics.

There are few drugs which can effect pregnancy tests and these drugs are very uncommonly used by the general public.

honestly, i wouldnt worry. I took antibiotics lots of times while i was on the pill ( i didnt know that they supposedly interacted) and nothing has ever happened.

hmmm...'don't worry about it' seems to be dangerous advice to someone who may or may not be pregnant. better to know for sure...right?
