But I'm backpacking South America in about 2 months here, and I just found out that none of the countries I'm seeing (I'm thinking Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, Chile, and Argentina) need visas- do I still get stamps? Or can I beg the person at the border to do that for me? lol There's something to having your passport full of all the places you've seen, I think, and unfortunately I know nothing about how they operate their little systems...
    Muchas gracias!

You will get the stamp of the country you first land in.

Otherwise... depends on how boarder patrol works in each country. In some of them boarder patrol is practically extinct, so I wouldn't count on it, but who knows.

I didn't get any stamps when I backpacked Europe. Silly European union... made me kind of happy though, I had no space in my passport for them.

countr[IMG]Each country you are going to gives you the Visa at the border. All of the ones in the list are easy. remember time changes and try to arrive at crossings before closing time. Daylight is best. It is coming into winter down south now. So in the mountains it is COLD !! I just returned from South America. IT IS AWESOME !! Have a great trip and if you have questions, just email me. I was down for 15 months.
