    Greetings all,
I just found out I am Pregnant today and I am really concerned about cost of pregnacy and laybor assistance. I do not want to go on Welfair, I would like to do this naturally if possible with a midwife and/or a doula maybe. Does any body know some good sources for some information on cost or average for monthly checks and delivery cost? and other options out there. This is my 1st pregnancy and I do not want to deal with hospitals. I can not stand them. Every time I have been in one I have gotten headacks or mygrains, I am sensitive to energy/vibration. With all the equipment in those places it is no wonder to me why I have a proplem there.

    Plus, Doctors make me nervess...
I have helped my mom and sis give birth, but I never had to deal with the financial part before.

    Peace & love,
    Clove

Congrats! talk to some midwives in your area. Most of them will work with you on the payments. See if you can find a doula who is still working towards her certification, and might work for free to get the necessary number of births under her belt. Try www.cappa.net www.dona.org and www.alace.org to maybe find a doula. And MANA (midwives alliance of north america) will email you a list of members in your state at your request http://www.mana.org/memberlist.html

Midwives accept medicaid-which is NOT welfare.

some midwives accept different types of insurance that the state gives like medicaid. you might want to apply for that also www.midwiferytoday.com has a list of midwives by state you might want to look through that. also you could advertise for a doula at like a local health food store.

Thank you all for your support and concern,

For the info posted here I had already found some of it not to long after I posted this thred. Sorry for not updating sooner...I found a Birth center here in UT that was inexspencive and also accepted medicad. My midwife was great. Do to my husbins fears we ended up going on goverment medical aid here in UT, just in case we needed to transfer to a hospital.

Well, after having a perfectly easy pregnacy, no morning troubles, tests all cleared healthy,...I had 30 hours of natural laybor ending with 6 at the hospital with a Epiderol(?sp) and then a C-section. There was so much progress that we kept on trying over and over. My little one, kept sliding back into the uterus, they (Midwife, then Docs) kept trying to turn my baby or have me get in a different position with hopful results, then what I said above. Basically whent from all natural to full hospital experence I tryed so hard to avoid.

But in the end I now have a adorable, quiet, let lively little scorpio boy. I think falling down a week before laybor had some thing to do with him being in a bad position for birth. He also did not seem to fit my pelvis??? When he came out his head was swallin and brused on the back of the head and temple area.

I did fine some great alturnatives for pregnancy & laybor care. So if we deside to have another baby I have a better idea of what we can do. But now I am wondering if we can even aford another baby if we end up needing another C-section, do to our increase of income we will not qualify for aid ,but also do not make enoght to aford hospital care:H A tricky situation...

Anyway, not only did I have a midwife, I had a doula as well whom was getting certifed , so I did not have to pay full price for her services.

Peace & feel free to ask Questions if you like,
    Huggs, Clove
