    well hi. thanks to those who care enough or are bored enough to read this. im nick and i live in new york city. my parents are divorced (my dad is what abbie hoffman might call a "rich-ass motherfucker" who cheats on my mom), anyway, i guess i just look at things differently. to be short about it, you just gotta look at the big picture of the whole world and see things in the sense of that we are just another group of animals on yet another planet and that by no means are we the "smartest" living creatures. i guess my idols would be john lennon, george carlin, and grace slick. i listen to all sorts of music and play jazz guitar (its good for my soul i guess), so feel free to ask me whatever you want about music, chances are we have something/someone in common. also, dont you think that if there is a god, then it must be a man, because no woman could or would allow the world to become as fucked up as it is. those that are really guilty of theft are those running the corporations and it is our duty to not just be aware of this thought but to do something about it and change the entire social structure and thought process of those living in this country. as an american, i feel its my responsibility to make my fellow countrymen and women aware of what is wrong with our society and how we should all go about fixing it.
    having been in school for far too long, i think that if we just gave kids 2 hours a day to look out the window and daydream, there would be alot less pressure on all of us and maybe we would be a less stressful society.
    now that im done venting at 130 in the morning, i'm generally a pretty relaxed person, i don't get too wound up about little things because what's a few seconds here and there.

    Hey there Nick;
    I play jazz, Classic Rock, Blues, Oldies, Country and yes even some New Wave....Welcome to The Hip Forums....Allow me to extend the welcome mat….I know what it’s like to be a newcomer….You don’t really know what to say or how to act….Read some of the threads so you can get the gist of what topics are being discussed….When you feel comfortable jump right in and get your feet wet….Nobody here is going to "Flame" you (unless it’s necessary) lol….We get some assholes here who just want to stir up bad vibes and there are several (they remain unnamed).…From what I’ve found so far is that we are one big family with many brothers and sisters….Once again the doors open come on in, open up your heart and mind, put on some groovy tunes, kick back and stay awhile….Peace, Love & Great Big Hugs….DDR

    Ah, yes, Astrud, I have several of her recordings and several pics, alone and with Stan Getz….Man that Brazilian music (Often called, “Acid Jazz/Bossa Nova/Samba.”)…It’s that Latin beat and swing that gets my whole body swaying with the music….I’m listening to, “A Certain Sadness,”right now and "Who Needs Forever?".”…That sweet voice of hers, it’s hypnotizing & mesmerizing, deep, to your very soul….I’m happy that you have discovered their music at such a young age…..Rock On, Brother….DDR

    yeah man everytime i play some guitar and start playin some jazzy solos, then stan getz's sax solos come on and i just feel pretty foolish....

    just a thought, don't you think its a good sign that no one trusts the local water anymore? maybe it means the system is slowly crumbling....

    I play a mean rhythm, with a couple twangs in between, LMAO "The Shadow Of Your Smile," is on now or, "The Girl From Ipanima, ' (Orignal - Brazilian Long Version)....Where she starts out in Portuguese and then slides into English….

    Did you know that she didn't speak any English before she sang, "The Girl From Ipanima?"...Yes, "Garota de Ipanema," is awesome....

    thats probably why her voice has such a lyrical and rhythmic quality to it, because she sings free of the actual meaning of the words...
