IN GOD WE TRUST Do you like the idea of God being associated with money? What God is the motto representing? The motto is excluding there being more than one God. How do you feel about that? What religions can the motto be said to only represent then? And all of us in the U.S. dont trust in some made up God from some liars written material, you know? Isn't it just way too unfair? Shouldn't "IN GOD WE TRUST" be removed from the paper money of the U.S. to be more correct?
well he did say do not worship false gods.....on money i never got why it was said...sounds a bit of a contradiction... but im sure there's more method to it being there than madness. is the majority of your country of the christian faith?
Yer if you get rid of the christian side of the american patriotism and culture, it pretty much all falls apart. (because it is so crucial, perhaps not the most important, but still a leg of the tripod) without religion, america would lose a huge grip on its population and hence, power overall. They arent going to change it. ever. This is the christian forum so its assumed that the ppl in here who your aiming the question at, beleive there is only one god so of course the bill shouldnt praise other gods. it suits christians fine. It also suits jews pretty fine, and muslims to a lesser extent (they are the three main monotheist religions).
The reason it says that is because we are not on the gold standard anymore. Our dollar is only valuable as long as we have faith in the stability of America's government and economy. American dollars used to Silver Certificate in place of In God We trust, but they disbanded the standard in like 1976 or something.
Blackhoodedcrow, your idea of the country rising up is probably indeed going to happen when the american powers are destroyed or overcome, and the amrican cluture forgotten. but thats not going to happen ever, neither is christianity going to be abolished.
Well, seeing as this country and it's laws and foundation were built with God in mind, I can understand why it is printed on our money. Let me ask you this, how does it being there affect you? It doesn't. You are just another one of those cry babies that have nothing better to do than point fingers and blame at Christians. Get a life and move on. I promise you, when the Christians are gone, you will wish you had a different outlook on life. I will never understand these non believers that cry and complain because they feel they are being force fed our faith, yet time after time non believers come in here and complain. We aren't going out into another forum and complaining about how brainless and idiotic you people are for not believing, so why do you do it? I say again, get a life and move on.
no, your not, your putting your beliefs on our currency though, that we are forced to see every day, unless we want to live on the street
And thats why when you are in court, you put your hand on The Bible and sware to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth, so help you God. Whatever. Our country was based and built with the belief in God.
Sorry to break this to you, in the 4 different states I have lived in you only raise your hand...NO BIBLE!
is rel;igion opressive in america or something cos the only peroblem we have over here is pubs bein closed on easter sunday. go figure
well... many of the founding fathers of the united states would never have affirmed the reality of the "god of the bible" - be he/it christian, jewish, or muslim... many of those revolutionaries who started this country were quite familiar with "established" or "state" religions, and wanted nothing to do with it... or with any "faith" based on "revealed texts"... and most would have agreed that the way to know the mind of god is not through poring over some dusty tome, but through using your power of reason to discover the true text given to us by the creator - i.e. the universe around us... (a "natural philosopher" is an 18th century scientist-type, who would exercise his mind & learn as much as possible of the ways of science - astronomy, physics, chemistry, archaeology, zoology, botany, mathematics... think "tom jefferson" or "ben franklin" for a couple of the more conspicuous names from the deist fold...)
