Neither the news at television or otherwise serious newspapers has much focus on the riots in Athens. What's going on?

All I've heard is that students are protesting because a new law allow the police to enter the universities without any reason...

    Please reply, greeks!

    love,

the last months my friens greece experiences a new political and social movement that we had not see since 1991. the youth rebel! the cause is the new law that concerns greek universities that the new right-neo liberal government want to make real. the greek constitution prohibits any man or business to found a university, that is the university is only business of the state. the higher education is free and the universities have asylum. asylum means that the police cannot enter the university in order to have the free spread of the ideas.the new law hits these freedoms and offers our education to the capitalists. but the deeper reason is that the youths demand changes! a better education a better society. another world is possible! the education is not for sale! the greek left parades! venceremos!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    You have got my solidarity.
It's a shame that the greek government is trying to turn the greek universities into units for developing capital interests. That's what our government already suceeded to do here in Denmark. I'm glad to see that the greek youth resist.

I will inform my friends, especially those of my friends who are political active on the leftwing, what's going on in Greece right now. I'm afraid that not many people are aware of what's going on. Maybe your movement should focus some more on having connections to the media?

    love and understanding,
