A question for all the grown-ups

Does any of the rooms in your house have white walls?

It seems to me that so many adult people like their rooms paintet white, and I really don't see the point.. White walls are really, really boring..

They tell me that it makes the room bigger, and that it isn't the room, but the things in the room, that should make it colourful...

I really hope I don't become one of those boring grown-ups with white rooms...

So, grown-up people? Do you have anything to say on this matter?

 

I have brown wooden walls in my house. I want to paint them in crazy colours, but I'm lazy and waste all of my money on sushi.

 

People seem to have white walls because it does open a room up--but generally it's because white walls are cheaper (just paint the whole house in two or three eggshell tones) and most people don't know how to coordinate color, fusion, or design, and try to use some mediocre basic ideal as a basis on how to decorate their house... because they don't want to take the time to do anything else or don't want to spend more money on something that might not turn out or something that isn't really a necessity, in that sense.

 

in my parents house (i cant paint the walls where i live now), my room was yellow for awhile and then i made it peach. the entire downstairs is painted a color similar to my peach.
I hate white walls... But I am good at decor, so that probably makes a difference.
When I get my own house, I want a yellow/white kitchen, a burnt orange living room, and deep red/white bathroom, and... other stuff. haha.

 

i notice it as well, that many houses have white walls. the one im living in right now is just full of white walls. i put a couple of tapestries up to keep me from feeling like im in an insane asylum

 

My whole house is yellow! its cheery, but momma sure loves that yellow haha.

 

My room, however, is draped in dreamy blues which helps it be a tranquil cove for me when I go back to my parents house. I love love love colour, warm hues generally, and white walls wont do for me.

Well, that's why you include things like closing costs, carpet cleaning, termite inspections....

Is that why people buy plain white cars?Makes 'em look bigger?Light orange with darker orange trim is the way I'm going when I next paint.

 

I don't know, but I know cops buy white cars because they're cheaper and they don't have to have them painted.

And to meggo--... Well... you have that green, the yellow, and what other color to choose from?

 

Yellow is the safest colour for a car.

 

I drive a metallic emerald/pewter green (depends on how far away from it you are) car.

 

White is easiest to paint over.

Reflects the most light using less electircty
to light the rooms.

Because the Real Estate Lady said so, she's a dictator.

 

You can also pick up random strangers,take 'em where they're goin' and charge the shit out of 'em with a yellow car.

When I see a white room I see a very big canvas.
