Well, we live in a trailer
    at the edge of town
    You never see us
    'cause we don't come around.
    We got twenty five rifles
    just to keep
    the population down.
    But we need you now,
    and that's why
    I'm hangin' 'round.
So you be good to me
and I'll be good to you,
And in this land of conditions
    I'm not above suspicion
    I won't attack you,
    but I won't back you.

Well, it's so good to be here,
    asleep on your lawn.
    Remember your guard dog?
    Well, I'm afraid
    that he's gone.
    It was such a drag
    to hear him
    whining all night long.
Yes, that was me with the doves,
    setting them free
    near the factory
    Where you built your computer,
    love.
I hope you get the connection,
    'cause I can't take
    the rejection
    I won't deceive you,
    I just don't believe you.

Well, I'm a barrel of laughs,
    with my carbine on
    I keep 'em hoppin',
    till my ammunition's gone.
    But I'm still not happy,
    I feel like
    there's something wrong.
    I got the revolution blues,
    I see bloody fountains,
    And ten million dune buggies
    comin' down the mountains.
Well, I hear that Laurel Canyon
    is full of famous stars,
But I hate them worse than lepers
    and I'll kill them
    in their cars.

Peaceful protests are great but get organized and make sure you've got the numbers and save the hippie garb for the love fest. Also if you really want a revolution get rid of your car and the junk food and the Xbox and the ipod and go into a nursing home and talk and LISTEN to some lost forgotten soul. You might learn something important.

The OP has good intentions, so I see no reason to put him down, however, I believe it is the so-called "small," everyday actions one takes that truly make a difference. Starting a huge movement may seem like a good idea, but if you honestly think about how others outside of the movement are going to feel, you might change your mind. It is likely most of them will feel it is a cult-like group and stray away from the message. Others will get violent, even though violence was not intended in the first place. It is true it takes more than one person to make a difference, but that doesn't mean we can't all do our part in other ways besides chanting in the middle of the street. Helping your community in some way is an excellent method to spread the message, and even the way you handle arguments affects those around you. Humans learn from one another, and seeing others make a difference may provoke them to as well. It would be a lot more productive than scaring people away with the movement setting, in my opinion. That is just my two cents.

we're all fucking doomed...........people have been protesting forever.......nothings changed. The weather underground and the black panther party tried to start a revolution, well in the case of the weather underground they were marginalized and eventually arrested.......the black panthers had their leadership systematically murdered. I really hate to say this, and I know its pessimistic but I don't think we can fight the beast, it's become too powerful and virtually everyone has been indoctrinated since birth to be subservient to the "system", the ONLY hope we have for revolution is to educate and wake up the masses, anything else would be quaint folly.

thats what im saying, we cant fight the evil empire (nor would i want to) ...though im a huge believer in creating an alternative for ourselves and eachother. its possible and its happening already. the thing is, to be indepentant from babylon it requires alot of research and alot of work and alot of faith....

Look woodstock. Man I bet we all have thought of a revolution of some type but that will make us no better than the machine (establishment) itself. Plus they got Nuclear bombs and stuff so before we (you) even start a revolution we should continue to fight (in a non-violent way) for Nuclear (and other bombs) disarment. :chill:

i think making with the intent of insulting the original poster and adding nothing to the conversation at all, is far more immature than someone who is interested in getting more directly involved in changing the world for the better

i attend quite a few protest, and volunteer with food not bombs, along with some other things. the way the system, our government, works, though, there really isn't all that much protesting alone can do. more direct action is often needed, such as causing direct financial damage to corrupt corporations. that, and just setting an example for other people through your behavior and knowledge, is all the common person can do to help

i agree, most of all with the "get rid of your car" statement.

fearing the government is just what they want you to do.

protesting is great and all, but you have to give it thought, make sure that what ur protesting will actually come to fruition.

    ....well....im definately stoned. :}

That's probably why you came with a pretty cliché post. Your government doesn't want you to fear them. Fear will lead to protest. They want you to join their look on society.

Protesting via marching in the streets is fine, and can even create change in certain forums. However I don't think the standard street-march is going to make much of a dent in changing our entire government, society, or culture. With tireless effort of years you may change a small aspect of one of these things, but not the whole.

In fact, by spending your time marching, you're being counter-productive. The government, culture, and society you want to 'shake up' so badly already assumes a certain amount of people will be pissed and marching in the streets. It writes those people out of the general equation, and is able to keep an eye on them pretty easily.

You want revolution? Don't march about it, don't wax poetic about it, don't pseudo-philosophize(like I'm doing here..) about it, just LIVE it.
Live every day looking at every aspect of what you want to change, and thinking about what you can do in your own day to day life to effect that change. Minor changes in the way we live our lives can cause a ripple effect in those eschelons of society in which we are involved, and through this we can cause a culture-shift through the minor changes of only a few people.

    Want simple steps?
    -Stop Consuming.
    -Become Self-Sufficient.
-Learn. Learn about those things you want to change, learn how to speak intelligently about them.
-Communicate, Network, and spread your ideals by example.

For example, say you are in Anytown, USA. You want to shake up Anytown by showing the local government that there are a lot of people unhappy with a recent act that will sell off farmland to a Walmart.
You could organize a protest march which would attract a couple dozen, make news for a day, and be forgotten and ultimately do no good as it would be written off as the 'crazy people' doing their thing.
Or with that same amount of effort, you could organize those dozen people into a campaign of pamphlet and flyer distribution blanketting the town with information about what is happening, and the office contact information of the legislators who are responsible.

i think what we really need for a fucking revolution is the fear to end. our country and, in fact, our entire fucking world nowadays is so fear based. nobody seems to be willing to go out on a limb for one another, we all seem ready to give up the fight at the slightest sign of opposition. if we merely stopped and thought for a second, got together, and put up the good fight. im not exactly sure on how to do it, but im sure we can. if only we could join once more, and didnt give up, while at the same time, not giving up on eachother. so my point is, we need to fight, and stand strong, and for no reason other than we need things to change. life is too short to let other people fight for u, and certainly too long to not fight for yourself.

i consider my self a hippie cuz i love 2 make peace & love all over the world & 2 do other good hippie stuff like protesting & helping ppl ...i'm in an organization 4 community service which helps needy ppl & i'm proud of what i'm doing ..i hope in the near future i can do more than that like changing some ppl 2 b better persons in their societies... but i think there're many ppl who don't care about those stuff that's whay we have 2 appear ourselves in some way that ppl consider us as a big power who controls some big things ..

    ( BTW i like ur song it's very good ;) )
