Planning to do 10 days in Amsterdam between March, April or May. Any have any places I can look to get familiar before hand; activities, lodging etc.? Any suggestions for when to spend time and when not? Thanks!!
Hmm well I went to the Dam last summer and had what I can safeley say was one of the best times of my life... We stayed in a pace called the bcycle hotel, VERY cheap almost hostel prices, but you get a private room ^.^ nice and quiet there too... Places to go? Well you have to check out the red light district if only out of sheer curiosity hehe, Also the amsterdam dungeon was a great laugh, particularly if youre fairly mellow at the time! In general the quiter coffee shops are more welcoming than the bigger places and seem to have better vibes... Also check out the headshops =o) some pretty funky stuff there, and I cant remember where it was but theres a park where people gather at night to smoke and chat and theres a pretty neat free lightshow from one of the nearby clubs, was very nice to lie back and just watch the colours for a while... Erm thats about it I think, hope you enjoy the trip! Sarah xx
Queensday is April 30th..... Its Amsterdams biggest street festival and party of the year. Live music stages all over the city, drinking in the streets, etc.
If you're a camper, I recommend camping zeeburg.Stayed there last year and found it to be a friendly, easy going place. Also close to te city centre with trams travelling from there to the city. http://www.campingzeeburg.nl/index.html
