hmm ... other than "I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings" (about Maya Angelou) it has been awhile since I've read an autobiography honestly.

One's I've read in the past though were on: Barry Manilow, Van Cliburn, Bo Jackson, Roy Campanella, and I think there was some other one, but honestly can't remember. It was quite some time ago.

Losing My Virginity by Richard Branson was an excellent read and I highly recommend it to anybody that likes Mr B.

Other than that, I think the only other autobiography that I've read that I really enjoyed was 'Mr Nice' by Howard Marks, a chilled out hashish smuggler.

I've only read a couple of autobiographies that I can remember. May of read some dodgy Beatles bios once upon a time, but none worth mentioning. The first I'm not sure counts, it's "No One Here Gets Outs Alive" by Jerry Hopkins and Danny Sugerman - Bio of Jim Morrison.

The other is one of the first books I ever read, "The Guv'nor" Lenny McLean. I really loved it at the time and still to this day think Lenny is sound chap. Some trivia I was just checking out there:

"Lenny McLean couldn't really be classed as a professional boxer, as although he fought for money it was in un-licenced or illegal bareknuckle bouts. At the time of his move into acting he was undefeated in around 3000 fights." (IMDB)

    Rights :)

that's so true. One Sunday a few years ago I was reading an article in the Observer about John Ruskin's Unto this Last; it sounded like an interesting book so I thought I'd pop down to the car boot sale at Brighton Station to see if I could find a copy. Sure enough, there it was, and on the same stall was another book I'd been looking for, Eleanor Marx's translation of Madame Bovary. And BTW if you like reading biographies, Yvonne Kapp's life of Eleanor is top.
