Ive been reading around all over the internet about the legality of owning a colorado river toad which is the toad which produces dmt in its venom glands but i cannot find anything about the subject. Ive found plenty of articles about how having the actual drug is illigal but i cannot find anything about just owning the toad. I believe, or from what i understand they are not illigal to sell in the US as long as you have a certain licence or permit but i was wondering if anyone had any knowledge on this.

Get back to me and let me know!!

"This animal is commonly bred in the midwestern and southwestern areas of the U.S. and sold illegally as a pet."

gonna have to trap one, make it a sustainable habitat, and milk its warts i guess, sounds just kind of weird to actually do it, but if your looking for a pet toad, what better choice.

Of course you can, but would you really want to do that? I don't think "can" was what you were looking for.

that's because the active compounds are not mainly dmt, but more 5-meo-dmt, bufotenine, and nmt.

I figured that, but i thought the two active chemicals were 5-meo-dmt and bufotenine, i didn't know that dmt itself was in there.

How could you go about extracting the dmt from the venom?

Of course it's legal to own the toad.....why wouldn't it be? Don't you know that we have DMT produced naturally in our bodies? When ever we sleep at night and dream we basically go on a DMT trip!

Though it would probably be easier to extract DMT from a toad's venom than your brain ;).

I think you could just lick them once a day or every few days right? This is the 'toad' that we always see on TV shows that say things like "Don't do toad". Haha

No you can't lick them and get high. You have to milk it.

http://www.erowid.org/animals/toads/toads_law.shtml legal in totality, extraction is as simple as letting the venom dry, no DMT in the venom only 5-MeO-DMT which is similiar but more physical and less visual, and Bufotenin which has been debated to be psychoactive. and the lickable toad is the Cane toad, which only contains Bufotenin... which again is psycoactivly debatable.

you would smoke the dried venom. The Bufo toad however is endangered, and difficult to care for. If you are seriously considering purchasing one be sure that you are prepared to care for a challenging amphibian and do not simply wish to get high. You are taking on responsibility for the life of another being.

First of all, bufotenin is not at all psychoactive. It is, however, a schedule I drug. It makes you feel sick, and is the reason why smoking the venom gives people headaches etc.

Secondly, DMT is in the brain, but nobody knows for sure what it's purpose is. I think it is associated with dreaming... I have tried falling asleep while remaining conscious and there were definitely some similarities between that and tripping on DMT (or at least tripping in general). However, having a lucid dream, or dreaming in general, is nothing like tripping on DMT.

Thirdly, separating 5-MEO-DMT and bufotenin would be difficult because both are alkaloids. All those documents online about DMT extraction wouldn't apply... because they would also extract bufotenin and other tryptamines.

of course! not only allowing him to live in a secure unhostile environment but a living drug dispenser in your house. i suppose its that or buying the skin of it for a sickening tea, recieving 1 high for 1 life, thats one reason their now endangered...
