"Aussies" are the same as "Poms" or "Krauts" or any other vague blanket term used to describe an entire nation's population: There's good ones, there's bad ones. If you come out with an open mind and a smile on your lips, you'll recieve likewise. If you come out scowling and defensive, ready to ward off attacks that don't exist, you'll find people pick up on that attitude and treat you accordingly.

PS: Little Britain is not my thing. But The UK gave us The Goodies, and that's a plus in my book.

    I'm an aussie....
and I meant drama in terms of it going on with the same storyline and characters for many many episodes compared to the canned laughter type of comedy that is normally referred to as comedy. Yeh sure it is comedic, is the right word here pathos? anyhow it rocks and English people I have met have generally been pretty ok too so maybe you are just hanging out in the wrong places!
    p.s. the goodies rock!!!

Australia's a big fucking country, dude! There are plenty of racist Americans, Brits, Kenyans, and Russians, too, but (as it's been made clear by others on this thread) generalizing Australians is pretty racist too, don't you think?

Well I'm not racist towards English people, most of my friends make fun of English people and their accent, that's true. But I like England and English people, and the accent is pretty cool too.

Australians all say they hate "THE BLOODY POMS". Unfortunately, things haven't changed, but there are so many different kinds of people, I'm sure you will find ones that arent complete morons.

Do not go to live in Australia - I guarantee you will leave after a few years. It isn't the best place for a foreigner to live.

dude, just from reading the posts on this thread, it seems that there are quite a lot of Australians that may not appreciate your presence
even some of the ones saying that there are a lot of Aussies that aren't racist, or that you shouldn't categorize them all into one, are talking about how a lot of Aussies are racist assholes
yes people are all different in every place
but you are going to find a lot more extremist Islamics in Iran than you would in America
and it seems to me that you are going to find more than your average amount of racists in Australia

that being said, that doesn't mean you shouldn't visit
there are many different levels of racism
and it's not like in a western civilization you are very likely to get killed over just your race (especially when just visiting)
hey, least you aren't American like me =P (and I do want to visit Australia, by the way)

Australia is a good place to live. I know a few people who live in Canberra. They say the lifestyle is far more laid back than in Britain. Ozzies have a right to hate the English or maybe get a bit rash with the English. On the other hand I think the modern Australian do have a friendlyness toward the English. Guess they are understanding and are far more tolerant toward the Brits.

In Britain it is a similar thing with Germany. Ask many Brits what they think of the Germans. And you will get hostile reactions and the endless use of the N word. Genuinely I know two German people who I had the gracious privelage to stay in Munchen. I was friendly to them and they were friendly to me. We both understood what had happened and moved on.

The same is happening with Australia and the Uk.

It's very simple! In all country's, there are people who have racist views and those that do not. Some areas have a more consecrated following in this topic. Most of Australia is not racial, we have always been multiculticultural and grown along side people from all walks of life.
