I just recently started doing shrooms and i tend to go to (for lack of a better word) my dark place, now don't get me wrong its not a bad trip but is this something i should face in that state of mind or should i stop doing it all together?

tripping is more or less just life under a magnifiying glass, so your potential to face your dark place will carry that intensity. i myself just recently took that trip, my advice would be to go deep into nature alone and let go of everything that is in your daily life, for the time your there.

Face it man, go somewhere safe, have a close friend (or by yourself if you're comfortable doing that, I got REALLY honest with myself one time I tripped acid alone in my dorm room) and when you find yourself coming to that dark place, explore it. You will gain something beneficial from it, as long as you don't suddenly realize that you need to commit suicide. Don't do that.

i found that swaying back and forth helps, for what its worth. it seemed to help things flow for me in a more sacred manner. when you fully feel whatever dark emotions arise, they float away and you flow into somthing new. just dont get hung up along the way, or mentally run away from anything. good luck if you do decide to go there.
