About how deep do you plant seeds? I got those little peat disiks that work great for forming root balls.

I've used the peat pellets, or jiffy pellets, in the past. In US measurements I think its a half inch deep.

I was thinking the other day, and I know soil acidity can make a plant male. Peat and those pellets are highly acidic, could that contribute to more males than females?

Soil acidity can kill a plant but I have never heard of it being an influencing factor on the plant's gender. usually its a 50/50% deal.

If it was me I would use a rockwool cube. Soak it in pH adjusted water (not to determine sex but so the seedling lives) and plant the seed, a seed's length deep.

Keep them warm and moist but not soaking.

All 3 of them sprouted, 2 going along nicely, one not so much but might recover. They sprouted in 3 days and have grown to a height of about 3-4". I'm excited!

I simply stuck a sharpened pencil in the depth of the bare wood, and two days later, My sprouts are 2 1/2 inches tall. Expect a pic soon.
Oh! I used the sandwich bag and wet paper towel method to germinate the two seeds.
