Is it just me or does the newer style of RHCP rancidly suck donkey cock? Them being a taper friendly band really lures me to want to go to one of their concerts, but all their stuff from 2001+ just totally sucks! I wish they would play their older style, like what was on Mother's Milk. Right around Californiacation they started sucking. The only song I like from 1999-2007 is Around The World, off Californiacation. Anyone else used to be a big RHCP fan and are upset about this shitty new 'style' of music they are trying to break the world into?
I haven't listened to all of Stadium Arcadium, but the song Death of a Martian is a good one. Theres a few others I think, but I don't know the names.
Since you like the new stuff, did you ever listen to any of the old stuff? If not, I highly suggest you download the song Nobody Weird Like Me. It's a lot more funky and punk like. That's why I loved them so much, they were like the only band that added funky bass lines to punk lyrics and guitar.
im with you. I think they blow but are listenable moreso then the rest of pop. Blood sugar sex magick is my favourite album of theirs. Nothing compares.
The band has changed its style since Frusciante returned to the band but I like it. Some of the old stuff is just as bad as some of the new stuff, it is just how music is, not all songs by one band are great.
How you figure? They have changed indefinatly. Non of their older stuff was this slow, 'post grunge' bulshit, with whiney, bitchy lyrics. Not to mention if you look at the bass tabs, they have gone from insane to cock-sucking. They have definatly changed. I know bands have good songs and bad songs, but when they go from good songs for 15 or so years, to bad songs for 7, I'd say that they aren't going to change back to the good stuff.
It's the same way NIN is. I listened to the new CD and I can already say that it's just not that good...
you have to expect some change, i mean they get wives and kids and they want to sing about different things than they use to. I liked a lot of the old stuff with Hillel Slovak like Uplift Mofo Party Plan, but I like the Frusciante stuff too. They had to evolve, I mean you can't do it exactly the same forever. The old stuff was good, but the new stuff is good in a different way. Blood Sugar Sex Magic was definately my favorite though.
I agree they do have to change, but IMO it was a drastic change to a total different type of music. I think they should just stop producing, they have made their name, now they are just slowly fading out. I'd rather stop then just fade out. Plus they are prolly just doing it for the money at this point, no doubt.
so you're saying that they probably have no interest in music anymore? the millions they already have must not be enough for them...greedy bastards. if you notice on every album, the music is different. listen to the guitar (especially between guitarists, but listen to how Frusciante does it different on each album), listen to the vocal style, all that. It changes each album. They're constantly progessing on purpose, they're still making good music too.
Ive always liked RHCP, but I do wish some of their newer stuff was going in the same direction as the older stuff. Some of my favorite albums are Blood sugar sex magik, by the way, and californiacation. I like a few songs off stadium arcadium but its the only album that has 5+ songs that I dont really care for.
stadium arcadium sucks dick! i hated htat album. sounds like htey are trying too hard to stay young and hip and "fresh".... I agree- their older stuff was bettah.
Actually I like there newer stuff alot more than the old, it shows they matured over the past decade. I went and saw them live in Tampa this year..wow is all I can say, best concert I've been too in a long time. (They cheered for an encore after By the way )
Their new stuff does kind of suck...but I still listen to it. I just can't get enough chili peppers! But nothing will ever top SIR PSYCHO SEXY!
they were hotter with hillel slovak in freaky styley, then blood sugar sex magik and mothers milk were also awesome. after frusciante left, they went on a steep decline. flea still whips the hot bass lines though.
i like the old stuff and the new stuff. i listen to a vast majority of music and although it is drastically different, i like both styles.
