now im sure most of you vegans know that typical latex condoms contain the milk protein casein. my question is, are you ever willing to compromise this? ideally we should all say no, but i have to admit i compromise on this. vegan condoms are not available in any stores in a reasonable proximity to my house, a few places have the polyurethane ones that are vegan safe but not many, and they are about 5 times more expensive and they have been shown to be somewhat less effective. my only access to vegan condoms seems to be online, and im just not interested in having to order condoms in bulk over the internet, although i probably should. and even if i did, what about the time when you've run out and are waiting for more in the mail but are caught up in the moment? this is one thing i really wish was vegan friendly, were supposed to be all about making love right!?!
personally, i have no problem adhering to my veganism in abstain from non-vegan condoms. i choose to not have sex... but i see a lot of good deal for vegan condoms on the internet. maybe 2 bucks more than a normal pack. i see no reason why ya wouldn't get vegan condoms off the internet. for me, veganism comes with self control. if there comes a time where i am "caught up in the moment", i would try to apply self control. i wouldn't want to sacrifice my beliefs(vegan) for pleasure. i can still have a good time, but stop before intercourse come into play. heres a good cheap site i found https://vegsexshop.com/product.php?productid=1&cat=1&page=1 good reviews, (not for larger sized men) http://www.veganerotica.com/condoms.html very cheap. http://www.veganessentials.com/catalog/glyde-vegan-condoms.htm good price, i think its the same brand as vegsexshop.
OK. With all due respect, this is getting ridiculous. No, I am not a vegan but even if I was I really don't think i could stretch it quite this far. It's milk protein for god's sake and in tiny amounts. No cow was harmed in the process and I'm pretty sure it's not enough to put in your cereal so just enjoy your moments of passion and forget about the calcium! Fair enough, don't drink milk or consume dairy products, but when you are supressing your natural desire for intimacy and sex because of an overwhelming concern about 'traces' of milk something is wrong. Paranoia will annoy ya!
so you say, forget your morals and do what feels good? that seems a little contradictory to the vegan system as a whole. there are lots of foods and products with just a little milk protine in them, but we vegans aviod them. its just what we do.
Excuse my ignorance, but what is so moral about avoiding a tiny bit of milk protein on a condom? I know being vegan means you don't consume meat, seafood, poultry or dairy products, but where do you draw the line. Really, life's just too short to get caught up in the detail!!
what you described is strict vegetarianism. veganism is a philosophy and way of living which seeks to exclude, as far as is possible and practical, all forms of exploitation of, and cruelty to, animals for food, clothing or any other purpose. so were draw the line? thats up to the individual. but to keep to the definition of veganism, one must do his absolute best to avoid animal derived products. some things are unavoidable, and we must accept that. so, we just do our best.
Thank you for explaining that. I didn't realise veganism was a philosophy, so it now makes more sense. I still would class myself as a vegetarian even though I eat dairy though.
Cap Veg I understand where you're coming from but like I said in another thread, even if the ingredient independantly is on a small scale, the manufacturers are purchasing it on a gigantor one. Also, any support of the dairy industry is unfortunately a support of the veal industry. Dark stuff Was gonna suggest vegsexshop but it's already been done, vegan owned and run by a female who rocks for shunning the razor though is a porn star and supports the porn industry so -- choice is yours
