Has anyone ever come across these people? I was utterly amazed yesterday walking through town and I saw a group of about 5 all wearing tie dye shirts and cutoffs and peace sign pendants. first i thougt it was a joke but they were acualy being serious. i talked to them for a while and by the time i left i was more confused then before. hippie isnt a trend, its a frame of mind. and they certainly didnt have the frame of mind. just thought id share my observation and see if anyone has come across people like this. love
Omg yes, some of my 'friends' [i don't like them really] act jsut like that. With all the tye dye and peace shit, then they go to mcdonalds ands through their wrappers out the window >:[ "drop" acid 7 times a month becuase thats what real hippies did... pffft
finally someone knows what im talking about! trend hippies smoke weed to get "fucking wasted" hippies smoke weed to open their mind/trip out etc. and they totaly just stand there all day and talk about geting fucked out of their mind on the weekend. they litter, dont give a shit about human and animal rights. their a waste of time!
Who cares if they were wearing tie dye and peace signs? Its just clothes. Isn't part of being a "hippie" not classifying people by what they wear/look like?
Were they covered in shit? Well... if they were than they might be real hippies, but they surely are no king.
I never said there not allowed to. its just an opinion. its not the fact that they dress like that its that they call themselves hippies. it doesnt make sense.
See, it's easy to be a hippie! Anybody can cover themselves in shit... But few are blessed by watery tarts. Why can't we all just roll in the shit in peace? I'm sure you do unhip things...when's the last time you bathed? Hm? Recently, you say? Poser. Pssshhhh.
I think that all people are just going to do what they want regardless if the have dreads and hippy gear, you never know who to trust in the world.. it really can be anything... So i'm going to go cry in a field while looking at a daisy
Yeah, I've noticed that. Just about every stoner at school gets like that. It gets old... Just because you smoke pot and wear tye dyed shirts doesn't necessarily mean you're a hippie. It gets old, but what can ya do?
What irritates me is that some anarchist punks dress similiar to hippies, and when they break shop windows and trash places people think that's what hippies are: violent hooligans who want chaos.
I must agree with whatever876 on this. Now, I am no fan of trendy groups either, but I do not judge people on their clothing and the rest of their physical appearance. You see, I do not feel the need to compete for a title, and those who do are just as bad, if not worse, than the trendy groups they despise so much. A lot was assumed about this group just because they were wearing tie dye and peace pendants. You act as though you know everything about them and their lives from the little time you spent in their presence. I am sorry, but I have a hard time believing you know every person in the group litters and only cares about getting high. Even if some of them do--even if ALL of them do--why are you so bothered? Let them dress and act the way they want, and if you are annoyed, just ignore them and move on. Tie dye isn't exclusive clothing for only certain people, and I would much rather see a group wearing peace pendants than going around with guns, wouldn't you?
im a bit bothered by fake people in general. its borderline offensive to me if someone cant be authentic and real with me, in a one on one situation (im not talking about the clothes they wear). though i do understand this stems from insecurity and can relate to that and forgive. i just choose not to make them my best friends.
The fakeness of self-professed "hippies" is what has been so annoying over the years. Even most recently, I went to fundraiser for a progressive mag on my campus. It was pretty lame. I brought a bunch of food (obviously the party is more enjoyable if people don't drink on an empty stomach) and people ended up wasting the food. So much for being "progressive".
