This is my first post, so bear with me... I am 17, and I drink and smoke weed on a regular basis. I have spent the past couple of years getting drunk and high every weekend and smoking up about every other weekday. It's beginning to become monotonous, though, and I have lately become extremely interested in psychedelics. I have always promised myself that I would wait until college to begin my "psychedelic career," but am beginning to think otherwise. My question is this: Is salvia the best option for my first experience? I have a couple of friends who have experienced it and enjoyed it, but I'm not sure if I would like to start elsewhere. I wouldn't rush in and try LSD or DMT too early, but shrooms are a definite possibilty. Would those experienced recommend that I first try salvia or shrooms or something completely different? (if I do so with the intention of continuing on to more powerful psychedelics)
The first one that i had done was salvia, but it wasnt much of a trip to me, just a very extreme high for like 30 min. So i'd say, if you wanna have a good quality trip, get like an 8th of mushrooms instead of the salvia.
an 8th? for your first trip? i wouldn't suggest ingesting an entire 1/8th at once for a first trip. but dude don't do salvia first. alot of people really FREAK out on salvia and have a terrible time. for instance, one of my good friends did salvia (and she's done shrooms, acid, dxm, all that shit) and saw "god" and had a TERRIBLE experience that ended with her not being able to walk and puking everywhere.. it just depends on the person. i think you should try half an 1/8th of mushrooms for your first trip. that's what i did and i had a blast! buy an 1/8th but only take HALF of that at first.. if you want to eat the other half later, go for it! but i definitely wouldn't suggest salvia for a first trip. oh yeah, and you're gonna need a babysitter! make sure someone is with you, just in case.
templeton, it depends on why you want to do psychedelics. salvia is different than other psychedelics and not the place to start if you're bored with pot/booze and looking for a better way to get high.
Hey thanks for all the responses, I really appreciate it. It's not necessarily that I have become bored with the status quo, but rather that I am become exceedingly interested in psychedelics. Based upon the responses, I am pretty confident I shall try shrooms before salvia. Perhaps once I am a little more experienced, I'll try smoking some salvia and see how that works out for me. I'll be sure to let you all know how it goes if it is to happen any time soon.
One thing that you must understand is that salvia and psilocybin/lsd are not even comparable... completely different feeling. And honestly, it's hard for me to describe salvia as a "psychedelic." I mean, it is one in a certain sense, but it basically just turns you into a wall for a couple of minutes, whereas shrooms/acid completely transform the world into a magical dreamland of insanity for several hours, giving you much time for introspection, etc. Personally I would skip the salvia entirely, but that's just me.
I, personally, would not recommend Salvia as a good introduction to psychedelics. The only plus side of it is that it's legal. If you do decide to do Salvia, I would recommend getting some standard leaf (1x) and some enhanced (5x) and working your way up the ladder. The intensity and the inherent strangeness of Salvia, when overdone the first time, scares a lot of people off. And although I do think there's something to learn from Salvia, I think you can learn more from LSD or shrooms - but you should probably start slowly with those, too. LSD has a bad rap, but honestly, I think it's a little better than shrooms. I've done a lot of acid and shrooms in my day, and even my worse trip wasn't anything compared to my first time with 20x salvia. You lose control with Salvia - literally. Your motor functions are noticably impaired. The same is not true for LSD or shrooms.
Salvia was my first, will probably be my last. I have probably the weirdest, most paranoid-deep inner thoughts-bottled up emotion- type of personality around, but salvia just makes me happy. Seems to calm me down by 200% after a trip is over, some great sense of pacification. Just have a sitter, take your time with it, and enjoy it.

I have the same exact feelings man and salvia has alleviated all of it. It leaves me with a clear, refreshed feeling and when I come off a trip I truly feel that I gave my mind a work out and feel much better because of it. Needless to say, I haven't messed around with stuff beyond 10x, but I absolutely love it.
you are just like me, i started first with salvia and now im getting into shrooms this summer...so , take my route..salvia prepaired me alot.
haha ur not the only one dude i got that personality you need to learn to use it to ur advantageeeee somehow and then its not so badddd its kindof like 'finding urself' we is blessed
Never said it was bad ! I like my personality, I just meant that it doesn't make me have constant bad trips.
Thanks for the comments, I am getting 3g of shrooms in a week, I will let you all know how it works out.
first trip i had was on salvia. it was pretty insane. but cool. i use it, but only sometimes, when i can afford it. also, you cant prepare yourself for salvia. except having a sitter to tell you itll all be over in 10 minutes. but even that doesnt help much.
