How do you know when you're ready to have children? I'm just curious to see what people have to say about this. I've been hearing a lot of different opinions so I would like to hear more.
I really dont think anyone is ever "ready" for children. I know I wasnt at 19 nor was I ready at 21 to have my second. Both were "opsies". However once felt I could handel taking care of them I accepted everything to do with them.
You might think so...until you find out that a woman's fertility starts declining rapidly after around age 25. At least...that's what I read.
Ha Ha. This is a trick question. Nobody is ever ready. Here's my attempt at an answer, anyway: When you are ready to love someone completely, more, even, than yourself. When you are ready to not get enough sleep. When you are ready to have your needs really, truly be secondary, at best. When you are ready to get lots of advice you didn't ask for. When you are ready for a life in which the consequences of your actions impact other people. When you just have yourself to worry about, if you screw up, you just have to deal with it. When you have a kid, that's not good enough. When you are ready to have no social life. When you are ready to go only to parties that are all about the pinata.
See I knew I wasn't ready I'm not even seriously going to consider children until I've a stable career, decent SO/DH and a big enough budget and home. Is that so? I was born when my mother was 25, and my brother came three years later.
I didn't say its not possible...obviously it is. But a woman's chance of becoming pregnant lessens and it usually takes much longer to conceive. It takes an average of 6 months if you're under 25. After 25 it takes longer, then after 30 even longer, etc. Also as you age the chance of birth defects increases.
