wtf is up with baseball and the number 42 and jackie robinson?????? okay, I know he broke the colour barrier, and had to overcome alot of hardships and opposition as he became the first black person in the major leagues, but do we really need to have a day where everyone on the baseball field has to wear the number 42 on their uniform????????? what sense does that make?? I thought everyone had to have a different number??? it made no sense to see all nine positions on the field with the number 42 on their backs....... I think they go a little too far with that jackie robinson thing, I realize its the 60th anniversary and all, but get real!
i always associated it with douglas adams. i honestly had no idea it was robinson's jersy number. i just figured it was something adams came up with someplace really obscure, like the number of friendly nonhungry ghosts in the bardo or something. =^^= .../\...
well you may not appreciate it, but at least the major league baseball comisioners do. I mean the game sucks already it would just suck really bad with no black guys.
there aren't many black guys playing baseball anymore. i am sure that figured into the celebration anyway, I don't see why the celebration is anything to really whine about. no big deal
How come we dont see a Robert Clemente day huh? i mean sure jackie alright, but robert was more than a baseball player, the guy got the medal of freaken freedom, 12 golden gloves and is probably the only player to have ever scored and walk off in the park grand slam.
***leaving the other stream in this thread as i hate sports and just wanted to resurect a post from the 2nd pge for old times sake*** I left with the dolphins "so long thanks for all the fish"
