I advocate castration and/or capital punishment (but for sure not life imprisonment, cause we the people who actually work for a living and PAY TAXES don't deserve to foot the bill for these losers), and I am NOT a raving christian or any other type of christian for that matter. Why is it that anyone with strong opinions about how violent offenders should be punished is automatically a christian??? I'm all for loving everybody, but the freaking line has got to be drawn somewhere! I believe in the goodness of the majority of the human race, but let's face it, kids..........anyone that would abuse/rape/molest an innocent child (and maybe even kill them) is a WASTE OF OXYGEN!!! Why is that so hard to understand? Seems relatively simple to this redneck girl.

The problem with drawing the line as you put it, is that once drawn the line is usually subject to change. I think it's better to not draw the line at all, and treat offenders as humans with a unproductive mind state. We should be helping them change that mind set and the best way is through compassion and caring. The reason reintake is so high after parole, is that in jail, none of the underlying causes for the crimes are dealt with.

but you know...what about consequences for one's actions? What about the cycle that is perpetuated? A child is molested/abused, they grow up, and become a child abuser. That adult then abuses another child, and makes another abuser out of him, and so on and so on. I say, make the freakin punishment actual punishment (not jail with a gym, a library, and 3 squares a day), but castration or lethal injection. Why is it that the victims don't have the right to feel secure? Don't they deserve retribution? GET THE MONSTERS OFF THE PLANET, not just off the streets.

Ah well, there are no easy solutions to any of this, I could argue it all day.

Yeah, your right about there being no easy solutions. idk, I guess I've just never thought that the penal system worked. So I figure we might as well try a more theraputic type environment.

I don't think the penal system works for most offenders either, that's why I don't advocate long sentences in jail. That just takes up more tax money that could be used for better purposes, like education, for instance.

Sorry if it seems as though my posts are a "rant" about this subject. I'm a mother of a 4 year old son, so I feel very strongly about this subject. If anyone was to harm my child in that way, I could easily kill them with my bare hands (the momma lioness coming out in me, I guess, LOL).

There just are no good answers to these questions, really. It just raises such extreme emotion in some of us, especially parents. Seeing other people's opinions does help ground me somewhat, that's why I love this forum so much, such a diversity of opinion, and (mostly) expressed in a loving way.

Being that I have been molested and almost raped too many times...I carry a pocket knife.
I don't care what anyone says about treating pedophiles better because I'm ready to stab the next guy who lays a hand on me.

My friend was raped by her theRapist, another one by her brother(who still does and he does it while threatening to hurt her)
and another by her dad (who's now in jail). >_<
Almost all my friends have been molested by some guy!
How the hell do we get this to stop? Or do I have to personally castrate them myself?!

The personal problems that often plague the victims of child molestation for their entire lifetimes makes it a more serious crime than murder. At least it does for those of us who believe in reincarnation of some type.

My problem with the term "Sex Offender" is that it covers too many things. Acts that are not lawful in one area may be quite lawful in other areas (ie. different ages of consent). It would make things easier on the non-childmolesters and non-rapists if there were greater differentation between the acts involved. I suspet the wording is intentionally vague, perhaps for the best of reasons, and has resulted in unintended consequences.
As for CMs and Rapists, if we can't shoot them, then making them wander without shelter seems fair.

If we could shoot them, I might volunteer for the duty, and I am a very warm hearted person.

Where I live 16 is the age of consent. Your being 17 means that men who are attracted to you are NOT pedophiles.
Also, stabing someone because they laid a hand on you will get you charged with at least one felony and it will probably get you jail time because that is considered outragious behavior.
I remember seeing this all girl band showing and telling members of their audiance to attack a fella if he put his hand on their arm or shoulder. In the demonstration, the man was clearly not engaged in hostile or threatening action. However the female who then proceeded to engage in asault and battery would have commited a felony.
