When I was at a ratdog concert recently I saw lots of people walking around wearing huge phatty hemp necklaces with hemp-caged crystals. One guy even had a knotted pouch for his lighter hanging form his necklace. How do I do this?

oh i bought one of the lighter ones about 9 years ago. made a huge mushroom fabric cover for our bong(back then) and attached this hemp lighter pouch to it. was very convenient indeed.

sorry, don't know how to do it though

I think I know what you mean, I made these long ago, depending on what I was wraping (usually a crystal or stone), it was like making a little net. You have to work with it to make the what every your wraping fit and stay.

I have seen crocheted lighter holders. My friend Misha makes them. as well as film can holders. You could try searcning for hemp yarn to use for them. :) As far as macrame goes I made a little purse using several strands knotted at the bottom then used the square knot to create a net. You could do the same for a lighter.

I have one I made, I'm wearing it in this pic. Depending on the size of the crystal, take 8,12,or 16 strands of hemp, or any numeral of 4 to make a square knot, just alternate strands into each other, from the knot next to the one you're working on...
It's kinda hard to explain..hope this helps a little at least!

Paix is an expert at this and you could probly work something out with her she is a kynd sister. She made me one that had a phatty rose quartz in it. It was a great, until the baby was chewing on it and he actually chewed the hemp apart, but that was because he was teething and not a design flaw.

There's a pretty cool cat in the downtown Austin area that makes the caged crystals. My best friend Chris bought one and I regret not having done so. I haven't seen the man who makes them since... I'd like to know how. Maybe I'll just tinker with some knots until I figure it out.
